Overseas basketball teams and FIBA leagues don't have a central database for players to find pro clubs, coaches and owners.
That makes getting an overseas basketball tryout - aka your chance at the pros - all the more difficult.
Professional basketball is already a very competitive field. But because there really is no universal way to even message teams, it makes it that much harder.
Luckily in today's modern age, players have more options than ever to get started in their overseas basketball careers.

I just moved to Germany for work and after watching few of your videos, I got motivated to get back into basketball. Now, it looks like maybe I'll play against you! I started training with SV Darmstadt, and I see that it's in the same Landesliga as Babenhausen. Would love to meet you man.

That's awesome! Did you end up making the team? Babenhausen actually got promoted to Oberliga now so they are not playing in Landesliga anymore.

Are you Colombian? Or why Colombia specifically? You can find and message many of the clubs/coaches via their social media. I am in Germany right now. I read that that to qualify for an athlete visa you have to get paid at least 3,500 per month, but I believe you said you were paid way less than that?

Yes - I was paid less than that and they were able to house, feed and pay me a salary. VISA also was not an issue. Maybe double-check with your source.

Hey Jose, do you ever work with any agencies? It seems you do have the solo gig down. But, I would think bigger opportunities would come from an agent right?

Generally speaking, I don't like putting my fate in someone else's hands so I've grown to enjoy looking for my own opportunities. I believe no player should be entirely dependent on their agent. With that being said, of course I'd love to sign with a connected agent. But for the first few years of my career I honestly struggled to get one. But as I learned more about how to market myself better, I have gotten more chances. Right now I'm signed with an agent in the Middle East.
