How to Find Placer Gold - River Record!

Using some prospecting tips and tricks (and a bit of luck) I hunt down a nice deposit of Oregon gold, and set a new creek record for panning!

Thanks Eric! I know i spent 4 days hunting around that outside bench before finally finding the gold. There was so much black sand i figured it had to be around there somewhere. I think there's alotta work to be down on that side a bit downstream

Looks like a great day on the water bud. The color you found looks very nice. That's a great day to get almost a .5 gram haul. Keep your pans heavy and remember gold is where you find it. SPYDER OUT

Thanks bud! Yup been back 3 times, maybe got a gram out've that general area which is darn good for there. There wasn't much gold nearby though, the place is really smashed. I'm hoping that once the snow melts i can start on a big line to snipe

I have to say that was really fun. I enjoyed watching. The only thing I don't like about gold panning and gold mining is when people break out there metal detectors. I just have a frown on that because I think that maybe what people should do is detect it, put a marker on it and then record. I just don't like seeing the metal detector a lot for this kind of stuff. Relic hunting fine but gold panning, no. Other than that excellent job.😊

Very nice video. Yea it’s amazing how much color you get on flood gold but just doesn’t ever weigh much. Looks great in the pan but it does add up. That river looks like a nice sniping place in the summer

We should tag team this summer. I’ll be all over oregon. Family own property in southern oregon with virgin creeks as well as eastern oregon old 1800s lode claims. It will be my first real full summer of prospecting!

Do you scrape the moss and pan it out? There’s a reason they call some matting “miners moss..” I’m sure you have. I’ve just seen some guys having some pretty good luck finding flakes stuck in that stuff. 😉👍

Sure do! Where I'm at there's usually just a couple specks, but when I'm in California the moss can hold great gold

That day I think it was around .3g, so maybe $20 or so. Making a living on gold is tough, almost impossible just panning in the US, unless you have a heck of a good spot
