It seems unfair how some people can just pick up the didgeridoo and start making sound--you might be having more trouble!
I talk about many pitfalls that people fall into as well as some exercises to overcome them so you can start droning on your didgeridoo and get on the path to enjoying this amazing and beautiful instrument.

Amazing explanation. This is the most tangible video out of all of the ones I've watched. I am sick of didgeridoo players who teach to actually saying "lip blowing is like this. Now try this up to your didge" and they make it sound perfect. They don't explain properly!!! You however, do! I like the comedy aspect too. It makes you feel less stupid for not being able to get it right. But seriously, this has helped a lot. It explains more and I have been doing a lower drone. It sounds decent and definitely trance like and healing. But your lip pencil exercise is fantastic. I shall practice it tomorrow Thank you dude

Brill video, I'm personally trying to learn to play to strengthen my lungs as I have emphysema due to this I'm struggling with the drone and to hold it.

Hey there Scott! I agree with you! I have tried a didgeridoo where the mouthpiece was too wide (I also played trumpet), and I couldn't get the drone to sustain. My current didge mouthpiece is about 25 mm (about an inch) and that works out pretty well. You can use beeswax to make your mouthpiece size more manageable, or you can find an a PVC adapter with a rubber gasket (I think I saw a KZfaq video of someone trying that once) to get it down to a more manageable size. Anyway, good luck to you!

Hey Vdubster19--yes that will work for mouthpiece size. My didgeridoo actually has a 1-inch mouthpiece as well, and it works for me. I think any smaller of a mouthpiece would be more difficult. But what works for me may not for you so give it a couple hours of practice to find out for sure.

No matter how I change what I'm doing, I cannot create a 'buzz,' with nor without the didgeridoo! It seems that I can't get my lips to come fully together. I've had a didge for over 10 years and I just can't get it. I also run out of air in about 5 seconds.

Hmm, that's tough. I'd focus on shrinking your airstream to the point where almost no air is coming out. You should be able to blow out of your mouth for at least 10 seconds. It might help to imagine like you're holding in the sound "B" and you're not letting it out. Let the pressure build and then let it go without opening your mouth to open. Once you figure out how to get your lips to buzz then you'll be able to go from there. Experiment with B and with P, and trying a little pressure (squeezing your lips together) and a lot of pressure until you can get some kind of buzz. Good luck
