Learn how to use App Annie and Sensor Tower to data mine proven app ideas! Take an app idea that is proven, put your own unique twist on it or combine it with another app idea to make something unique.
---------
⁣Hey CodeCrew,⠀

I had a mind-blowing interview with Steve Young (if you watch the interview, you'll see that I'm jumping out of my skin with excitement) about how to find "winning" app ideas. ⠀

The best part? This is all done using free tools. The basic idea is to look at the top App Store charts in the same category you're thinking of building an app for and dissect what's currently working. ⠀

The point isn't to copy what's working. Instead, think about how you can put your twist on it, make it better or remix it with another idea to come up with a unique app.⠀

Better to base your app idea off of proven, working concepts rather than trying to imagine what WOULD or MIGHT work.⠀

I was blown away by how much data you can gather about apps for free. Numbers like how much estimated revenue an app is generating, how much advertising that company does (you might not want to compete if you don't have a big marketing budget), how its App Store rankings have been fluctuating, what keywords they're using etc.⠀

Seriously thankful to ‪@AppMasters‬ for sharing this!
I hope you enjoy this interview! You can find more actionable app marketing advice at:

But... but... just open a project in Xcode, write the same code that you would do in the playground. Press play to run. If you want to see things, just print() it out. Welcome to Xcode! (Although you already were there!) Edit: aaah I didn’t get that you were 11, sorry about that. I have a good advice: don’t think it is harder than it is. Just create a project. Name it anything you want. Then start simple. Use print() to see the results instead of seeing it immediately on playground. var a = 3 a = a + 4 print(a) Now run it. It looks like a play button. It should show “7” in the Center bottom part of the screen. Then you can try to combine with choices, if, for, etc. Eventually you make functions, then use objects, create your own classes etc. If something looks hard, either leave it till you are ready, or really work your mind to try to understand. Persistence is good. When I was your age, I wanted to learn assembly code on the C64. I had no support (books or people who knew or cared to teach) and that was sad for me. That is why I take your request seriously, because I have been there. You are growing up in a time where information is freely available, so you are lucky that way! Good luck on your journey!

So let me get this straight! Apple will delete your app if it's not getting alot of downloads? What if it's an app for a client ?
