How To: Find Your Positive Axis Point

2 жыл бұрынThe PAP, or Positive Axis Point, is the point on the ball about which the ball rotates at release. Knowing your PAP is a critical piece of information needed to determine the proper layout for your bowling ball. Your PAP tells the ball driller what your ball release says about you and what layouts will and won't work best for you.

Nick, as a no thumb bowler, many traditional rules don't apply, can motiv do a video similar to storms 2LS video.... it would help many motiv bowlers

The sad thing is that I have been bowling for close to 40 years, in that time I have purchased many balls, and have never had a pro shop get my PAP or ask if I know it. Not once, and I have bought balls from many different pro shops in multiple states and locales.

to figure out layouts you need more then just a bowlers PAP. You need axis tilt, axis rotation, rev rate and speed

absolutely, the PAP is not the only piece of information needed, but it is a critical piece of the puzzle.

I measured 3 of my ball and got 4-1/4"over and 3/4"up but on the balls I currently use that were my dad's is 4-1/2" over and 3/4"up . Lefty more speed then revs and don't know my rotation,tilt , revs, speed but on mine and my dad's old ones are a 1/4" difference.

If it's an option, use the least dynamic ball you have. The more dynamic it is, it can "trick" the pap if it start flaring in your back swing lol. I'm probably going to drill a Purple Tank just to get that measurement.

is it better to use a reactive ball or a spare ball to find pap? im looking at getting a new ball that "properly fits" my game so im starting from scratch

Question....Not new to bowling but new to these layouts.....assuming you are reverse engineering to find the finger hole locations, if you have a new ball (and all balls being different)...how do you get the pap of a ball before you drill it? And can you really translate info from from one ball to the other? Thanks

Sorry for the late reply. Your PAP is unique to YOU not the ball. It will not change from ball to ball. When laying out a ball, you'll look at the ball specs like pin distance, mass bias (if asym), CG, and top weight. You'll use your PAP along with this info for your layout

If you are a new bowler and don't have a bowling ball then would he do to find your PAP? I don't want to wreck my new ball to use as a template for a second ball

some shops will have demo balls you can use to find your PAP or they might have you throw a house ball
