Watching videos like this make me feel good with the purchase of one that was said to run good an shift good. Took it out and ran good could use more adjustments like u. Showed but sounded very similar

I got a 1958 sea horse 10 for sale in Staten Island, New York. 11/2/23. My late dad's motor. It ran when he passed away in 2000.

My idle’s on all of mine sure did improve when I became aware of this adjustment, been twenty years. Great explanation sir! I like watching just to make sure I don’t miss anything or at my age forgotten! Cheers from the French River in northern Ontario!!

Talk about solid gold information. I literally was just on the river with mine today and it's running like crap and since I know nothing about high/low idle settings, I didn't want to touch it. Just you showing me that initial setting gives me the confidence to give it a go as well as the fine tuning you demonstrated as well. Much appreciated and gratefully subscribed.

Love your videos - can you do a detailed Carb rebuild I have my Dads 57 7.5HP AD-11 like your twins and am having to tackle this, everyone is afraid to work on these which I find funny since I’m loving rebuilding this. Thank you and your videos Rock !!!

Say Mike, I just finishedrebuilding the old pressure tank on my 5.5 hp Johnson. Tank working good. Was the problem of it running and then dieing. I have done the carb finetuning you talked about. Done the timing and changed the plugs.... I also used a rebuild kit,cleaned and new parts. Starts and runns ok but when I put it into gear at idle it dies right away? ... What do you think could be the causes of that? ... Mike

Will it idle lower? Mine doesn't go to slow. But mine is a cd 18 dies right were yours does

I have my dads 1958 RDS-20 35hp Johnson that I have totally rebuilt. Your video on idle speed was very interesting but the brass plate that interacts with the carb throttle is not adjustable. I have tried lengthening out the throttle linkage where it attaches to the engine but then that impacts the shifter by rotating the advance timing plate to far forward. I'd appreciate any suggestions at this point. Thanks Fish,n Fiddle

Hello Mike what if you set it there and when I let off the handle the handle moves a lil and it dies?

There should be a large spring under handle grip to cause friction for handle not to drift

So there’s no stop adjustment and it will die when you idle too far. This is normal

Thanks I really needed this. Got my motor from a friend and he could not get it running. After doing this I pulled the rope and it started on first pull and somewhat idling now just need to work on it a little more. THANKS A LOT. It's a 12hp 1964 Eldin what is the good oil mixer I should use. Do you recommend the premixed stuff or mixing the oil & gas together. .I hope to hear back from you.

Do you tune the carb with propeller on or off in the bucket?

@@michaeljsimon ok. Thank you. I have had a hard time getting settings right with my 7.5. . Prop is off. Carb needles set like you described. It starts on choke and will run with no choke on start setting but diea after a bit. It's like the motor runs out of gas. It runs for alittle longer of i push the prime on the tank every 20 seconds or so. Still has dual fuel line setup. I plan on going single line setup with pulse pump next week.
