How to fit a Sena Cycling Helmet
Having a cycling helmet that fits is essential for safe and comfortable riding, and luckily finding your correct helmet size is simple and easy to do. Join Rylynn as she shows us how to measure your head and adjust your helmet to get the perfect fit every time.
Steps to finding your perfect fit:
Step 1: Measuring
A.Measure the circumference of your head with a flexible measuring tape roughly 1 in above your eyebrows and the tops of your ears
B.Pull the measuring tape snugly and make sure the flexible measuring tape is level from front to back
C.Write down the number where the first end of the tape measure and the body of the tape measure meet
D.Compare your measurements to the sizes on the helmet sizing chart to determine your recommended size.
Step 2: Fit/adjustment
A.Before putting the helmet on your head, you can open the dial adjustment in the back. This will help ensure the shell fits down on your head as it should. The helmet should be snug but comfortable. The helmet shouldn't be sitting too far forward or too far back on your head
B.Make sure the helmet is level, then tighten up the dial adjustment. It doesn’t need to be too tight, just enough to feel snug and secure. This will help give you a more secure fit for maximum safety.
C.Buckle the strap - it should be loose enough that you should still be able to move your mouth or fit 3 fingers between your chin and the chin strap
D.Adjust the buckles on the side straps to sit flat against your head and around your ear. Aim to have the straps in front and behind your ears, without touching your ears, to maximize comfort. You may need to adjust the chin strap once the side buckles are in place.
Step 3: Checking
A.To check that the helmet has been properly adjusted to fit your head, try shaking your head:
a.side to side,
b.front to back
c.like you’re saying “no.” The helmet should stay in place and not slip at all whatsoever.
B.If you feel pressure on your head, back off the dial adjustment in the back a bit. Just be sure you don’t loosen it so much that the helmet can shift when you move your head!
