I did Joe and it's exactly the same though you need to remove the freehub body first. Thats a good opportunity too to check the freehub bearing and pawls are all in good condition.

Only had them changed once and that was a while ago now. I got the LBS to do that.

So far? Ok. Interestingly the disc brake side front bearing died fairly quickly so I popped the old one I'd salvaged back in. Holding well, but I've hardly used the wheelset over winter (just once when doing the first ride of the new bike).

It's been sooooo long since I swapped them I can't remember, sorry.

The ZR1s do, it's in the service manual 👍😊

@@TheRadGravelRider same here, they are horrible! my old cannondale HG hub is so much smoother and has 5x the miles on it!

So did you changed the 404 bearing? If so what bearing and diameter to go for?

The first set I replaced were Zipps own bearings. In my experience I've had more life out of the third party bearings than I had with the original and replacement Zipp bearings. I may be a fool, but I'm a slightly richer fool for using third party bearings.

@The Fat Gravel Rider good luck with that program, but most people find that non zipp bearings are an annoying lottery, some work yes, but most are no good, with lots of creaking and play. If you do try zipp bearings take great care to mount with the black side facing outwards though - there is a different type of seal on the left and right side of every zipp bearing.

@@CG-99 Yes agree CG it does seem that Zipp hubs are less tolerant to alternative manufacturer bearings but if you cannot get Zipps and you are gravel/off road and not listening for creaks I can see why you can give it a go. See @Mapdec Cycle Works for interesting experience with the original bearings on new Zipp 303s - Zipps own stuff having issues. Re popping the old one back in - I have been told a pulled bearing is a dead bearing and should not be re-used. @The Fat Gravel Rider - Great to hear your experience and love that you try these things out.

@@user-wf8vx4bl5c If you expand my comment you'll see links to both the bearing press and sliding hammer. That are the exact same ones I used in the video and worked absolutely fine for me. For home use they are fine, though if you're working a shop workshop they may not be the best for longevity.
