Thanks buddy. I was going to try to force my seat belt back into locked position, but glad you demonstrated that it can be done without breaking it. I think it sucks that Honda won't fix the electronic problems. I had my transmission EC computer replaced this year, now this. Thanks for making and posting the video. It's the only work around for the problem I can find in the Google search.

I think it terrible when people get upset when little things like this go wrong. When the car is 20+ years old it owes you nothing. My accord has spent the least amount of time in the shop out of any other car I've owned and it also the oldest. The parts are readily available and cheap and I would buy this car again every time.

Did you check the fuses under the hood before replacing the unit under the seat? The fuses are labeled L passive motor, and R passive motor.

The beeping is controlled by the black CM (computer module) located under the front passenger seat. Unscrew the 2 bolts at the front of the box, then lift off the black plastic cover. Now push the seat all the way forward, look down on the floor of the passenger seat and u can now see the 2 wire connectors (a brown and a green). I disabled mine by unplugging both connectors.

Thank you! My 1990 Civic belt retractor motor drive was stuck in the "almost closed" position. The seatbelt could be used but the warning beep would sound unless you pulled it and held it closed the last 1/4 inch or so. Thanks to your video I opened the little access hole at the bottom of the B pillar and with a 4mm allen wrench I was able to retract it back that last little bit now no more false warning alarm.

I have this problem on 1991 Honda Accord. If the problem is this "computer relay unit" as you say, then please let us know the part number. Then we can type it in google and possibly find a replacement for it (also, if you can open up the unit, then quite likely you wouldn't have to replace the whole thing, but just the bad component(s) in it - if its a "computer relay unit" then its got relays in it, and relays seem to be components that fail eventually). And commenter GHOSTGXZ below suggests checking 'the fuses [under hood that] are labeled L passive motor, and R passive motor', which is excellent suggestion to do first. Otherwise, great video!! Also, just discovered this is discussed a little bit on pages 126 and 127 of the Owner's Manual.

I hope u all find this helpful. Despite what others have said on the internet, Honda is not responsible to replace the computer module. All the Honda dealers i've dealt with said Honda liability ends with the seat belt and the retractor itself, not the computer module.

I have a 91 honda accord and my seatbelts are stuck the driver side will go forward but wont retract back idk what to do any suggestions would be great!

I had a problem with the driver side only. I pulled the male end back into the posistion where I could use it. When I turned the car on it went back to the forward posistion. So, I removeved the 30 amp fuse to the driver side motor under the hood.

Can u switch these out with the 92-93 interior panels without the seatbelt n retractor?

Oh. Just pull the plug under the cover then put a hotwire to the motor then pull the fuse under the hood and its not going to move again. Or fix it right like me. I like my seat belts to work by themselves.

I never had problems with this before but my 91 accord but the latch broke on the driver door. I replaced the entire door no problem but now the seat belts stay in the closed location. No Seat Belt warning light or anything. I assumed it was a wiring issue

If you take apart the computer box under the pass seat you can remove the buzzer (forever, so be sure)

My 93 acura integra just did this today i tried moving it back manually but as soon as i opened the door the thing retracted back to the front of the car and stayed there i've heard that acura has a lifetime warranty on defective belts so im going to go into the dealer and see what they can do for me. I will keep you guys posted on what happens

this is a temporary fix!!!!! its not that hard to fix people!!!! all parts are available at the junk yard

MrMustacrackish - I know your post is a year old, but this is a safety issue. It's not like the radio quit working or something, this is something that you NEED, not only for safety, but for legality. On many older Honda's and Acura's they provide a lifetime warranty on them. They provided the warranty, so YES the service is owed to us.

Ok. So i did this and i was able to pull the seatbelt lock all the way back (driver side) and it helped because it turned the dam dashlight out but then when i turned the car off, the mechanism worked again until it got stuck again all the way on the other side again. fuuu k that

You didnt fix anything ! I can do that by puttibng a hot wire to the seatbelt motor. E- gads !
