The garden hose flush method is great, however, Scotty did not mention that it should be low pressure. DO NOT turn the hose on hard, because the the high pressure can blow the seals out and then you have a real problem. Low pressure only.

I will if anyone ever wants to pay for one, here in texas it's hot, and when heaters break we mainly disconnect them by splicing the heater hoses together under the hood and living without heat.
@scottykilmer

That's often a symptom of a clogged up heater core, the water can't flow fast enough so you get heat only a short time, then the water is out of heat and new hot water can't get in fast enough. Try flushing it out BEFORE replacing it, as replacement is normally rather expensive. Scotty Kilmer

Also, If you arent getting heat and its none of the problems Scotty talked about, check your "Blend Door" or Blend Door Actuator. Its a door that seperates the cold a/c air and the heater air. Mine was stuck in the middle and when i turned on my heat it came out cool.

@ssl668 generally the cores need replacing when that crapped out. But, of course, check to see if the cooling system has no air in it, we mechanics use vacuum systems to suck all the air out and know there's none left in.

yes, replacing it is a royal pain though. Here in houston it's hot most of the time, so we just cut the hoses going to the heater core and splice em together with a 2 dollar splice kit. Then it can't leak anymore, as we dont' need heat anyway.
