How to fix a creaky, corroded Tesla control arm for good

Tesla certainly makes some innovative vehicles, but some new designs can bring unforeseen challenges. Take for instance the control arms on many models, which tends to trap moisture against the ball joint, not only causing creaking, but also corrosion that can cause the ball joint to eventually fail.

Nice work! I have had great success with aftermarket Dorman products. I am in the market for an EV and am eyeing a Tesla, as EVs usually require less maintenance. I've heard terrible things about Tesla control arms, so I'm glad to see that Dorman has solutions that an average DIYer like myself can fix (minus the alignment, or course).

No need to buy a new arm, at least for now. Used a grease needle to inject fresh grease into the rubber housing on the ball joint, then used a lot of silicone lubricant on the control arm joints where they connect to the vehicle body (looked a bit rusty). Still squeaking the next day, but drove about 100 miles and all squeaking/creaking is now gone! I removed the tire to get a little more room for the spray can, but i don't think it was necessary.

Nice upgrade Parts sometimes the old way still works better. I understand companies trying to innovate but it doesn't always work regardless if it's Ford Chevy Tesla or honda.

This is an interesting product. How much do these weigh compared to the OEM control arms?

Hi Tony, unfortunately we do have the OEM weight of the Tesla control arm. However as an OE FIX™ design, any weight difference there could be is offset by the massive improvement in ball joint durability.
