How to fix a dripping Keurig

If your Keurig is dripping at the end of a cycle, your pods are full of water, or grinds dripping into your cup then this video is for you. I'll show you how to replace the air pump and repair your Keurig. No more dripping at the end of a cycle

I think you should edit this and make a comment about the 3rd tab on the top. In your video it's broken off. This one tab got hurt on mine but is salvageable. This one (3rd) tab took me longer than I want to admit getting the top cover off

@@jewelsmack4303 on the right side of the kcup loader mechanism, basically the real guts of the operation. If you watch the video closely where he is pointing to the tabs, you'll see one in that area that is busted off

This is my 2nd Keurig coffee maker of this model. kzfaq.infoUgkxBrV-RbF5Nk0Rlt9i15aao-YMzqzTG8Vf The first worked fine for more than 2 years, and I could still get a decent cup of coffee out of it if I fiddled with it when I decided to replace it. The problem I had with my first unit was this: When attempting to brew a cup of coffee, the unit would either keep brewing until the coffee was undrinkable or it would not run long enough and the coffee produced was way too strong. I cleaned the unit as best I could but it did not help. So in the end it was just too much trouble to get a good cup of coffee out of it, so I decided to replace it with a new one, which has been working great since I unpacked it.

Thanks Dr Ray, I have the same Keurig you repaired in this video. I ordered the pump from Amazon for $14. It came in and I watched your video while taking the unit apart, installed the new pump, and reassembled the Keurig. I was a little apprehensive making the first cup, then I heard that wonderful whoosh at the end and knew everything was great! Thank you, thank you. No more dripping, no more pods full of water. Now my wife thinks I’m great again😎.

Thank you very much for your video! I have the same model Keurig and had the same exact issue. Called Keurig support and they were absolutely useless. Looked online and find your video. I ordered the air pump off of ebay and installed it. Now the Keurig works like new. The most helpful part of your video was showing exactly where the tabs were to take this thing apart. That saved me a whole lot of grief because this Keurig would have probably gone for a "flight check" if I didn't know where the tabs were. Really appreciate you taking the time to do this.

Oh my goodness I did it. Had to use some ingenuity to secure the pump and did not solder the wires -stripped and taped them. But it works!

@HouseDoctorRay Thank you…again lol. I put it in my cart on Amazon. So I’d just have to solder the wires then? I have a friend coming over to see if he can help with the one I have. He’s aware of the problem and being a handyman said he may have something to cut the metal “wings” off…and asked him to bring a soldering iron. After that I’ll take your advice as far as hot gluing it back in. If all of this doesn’t do the trick…. TEA!!😂

Mine's doing the same thing. Only about a year old. We remodeled our kitchen last year, and bought a white Keurig to match the decor. Time to break out the old one which we never had a problem with. Good video, but me and plastic tabs don't play well together. I'll have every one of them broken off and end up throwing it away. 🤣🤣🤣

Open it up and see which pump you have. Then order the one you need.

My 2.0 k200 is doing the same thing. But my question is why is there water coming out of the air pump? Has to be some other problem leading to this.

The air pump pressurizes the water tank and blows out the pod at the end. That's why when they are working properly the pods don't drip at the end of a cycle. I think they just burn out.

Mine dispenses hot water fine but when a pod is in. It only makes noise then turns off after a few seconds. Any thoughts?

Run straight vinegar through it and let it sit full of vinegar overnight. Next day turn it over and smack it like it stole from you. Then run water through it to flush out the mineral deposits. I would go with the straight one and use zip ties or something similar to hold it in place. It's not something that moves around so I'm sure if you secure it well it isn't going to come loose.

@@HouseDoctorRay thanks. I'd much prefer to have a replacement air pump here when i take it apart, so that it can be fixed when it's put back together. Mine is a 525 model if that matters. Been pretty trouble free, but I'm single and it doesn't even get used every day.

The front wrap around piece of the pod holder comes off pretty easily. You need to squeeze it and wiggle it to get it to pop off. Maybe search for a video on cleaning the pod area. It's designed to come off for cleaning. Be careful of the needle up top, it is very sharp. There is also a tiny o-ring around the needle, if you lose that o-ring the machine will leak.

There should be a little o-ring around the sharp point that punctures the top of the pod. Make sure that is there.

I found some disgusting things in my keurig. I took mine apart down to the heating unit and found inside the heating unit a plastic part of it (swirl pattern inside and at the top), that would crumble in each area you touched it. Disgusting. Also, the top of the heating unit was clogged with what looked like soft melted tubing. Basically, my keurig had a heart attack from a blocked artery. I’m saving two pumps but tossing out the rest.

We run a few cups of straight vinegar through ours every few weeks. Once the vinegar fills the inards we leave it for a few hours to kill any nasties and dissolve any mineral deposits.

Hi. I have the exact keurig w the exact problem. Took 2 hrs to take it apart. (Which I can now say after it’s over is fine lol) I ordered the same part from Amazon and I let it sit here (out of fear) for a couple of weeks. Once I removed the pump from the machine, I saw that the new pump had metal flanges on it for lack of a better word, but there’s no way in hell it fit in my Keurig. The seller said he would still take it back. But can I ask who you got your pump from? Do you remember the seller ?because now I’m stuck with a shell of a Keurig. PLEASE HELP!! I can send pictures if you need. Thank you.!!!

I'd be curious to know how much these cheap Keurig machines have contributed to landfills. I've been through 5 or 6 Keurig branded machines. Although I'll continue with the k-cups, I'm not buying a "Keurig" machine again. Although I have that exact model, and I'm sure I can handle the replacement. I'm done with Keurig machines. mediocre quality and almost zero ideas since the original years ago.

Worked but nowhere near as easy as it looked in this vid. More tabs you cannot see along the silver part where it meets up with the black cover you are trying to remove. The one at the top rear right side is a pain in the @$$. I broke it but fortunately it did not preclude the reassembly, appearance or function. Once apart it is easy to replace the pump and put the unit back together. I just used a couple of Wago wire connectors.
