OMG.........I randomly remembered an R4 card that I had that my 3DS wouldn't recognize for a couple years..Tossed it in a drawer and just found it along with your vid. I cleaned it with a Qtip dipped in some rubbing alc. and it works now!! I am beyond happy, thank you soooo much!!!

Never use medicinal alcohol for cleaning any contact, that alcohol contain water and can oxidize the contact To fo that work use isopropilic alcohol or a electronic cleaning contact

Just wanted to add two things. Rubbing alcohol (propanol or isopropyl alcohol) will remove the serial number on the carts almost instantly. Also a great thing to use for cleaning like in the video is tooth-picks which has the added benefit of not risking scratching up protective layer on the contacts. Great video :)

I think your 2DS just hates the Littlest Pet shop. Delete the sticker and replace it with something like mario kart and it won't know that it's Littlest Pet shop. Problem solved

OMG THANK YOU SO MUCH! I found my soul silver game that I lost for years, and I recently found it. It wasn't working at all and had some weird water splotches on it. I thought I wouldn't be able to relive my amazing childhood, but I used some hydrogen peroxide (basically rubbing alcohol) and it worked! When I first cleaned it, it didn't work. I cleaned it the second time and it still didn't work. My childhood instincts kicked in, and I decided to blow on both the cartridge and the insert thing of my DSi. It magically worked, and I was shocked beyond belief. I remeber dropping the soul silver game in the sink before too. I read up on some forums, and DS cartridges are basically waterproof. Anyways, I really appreciate the information and advice in this video, as I am excited to replay through Pokemon soul silver!

tip to anyone watching : if when you push down the game cartridge it works , but when you let it go it doesn’t work, I reccomend to put a piece of paper in between the game cartridge and the inside of the slot where you put it in . it makes the cartridge stay down without you holding it and it actually works

yessss this works! I didn't have rubbing alcohol so I used some regular hand sanitizer and it did the trick! I used my fingernail on the other side of the paper towel to get to the edges of the dividers. my phantom hourglass and spirit tracks have been saved,, thank god

This actually worked perfectly for my Pokemon HeartGold cartridge that would not read when in the game slot. Thank you so much for posting this video. Game was cleaned using described methods (except I used isopropyl alcohol prep pads) and began working/playing immediately. No need to force open the cartridge as seen in other videos. Great advice, man!

This did the trick for me with a second-hand DS cartridge. Didn't realize just how little contact I was making with a cotton swab - switching to a screwdriver head did the trick. Thanks for the tip!

You can also use a clean paint brush or a clean, soft toothbrush to clean game cards. Much less risk of scratching the contacts if you're inexperienced.

Just bought a game that I had been looking forward to playing: Kirby Canvas Curse for about 12 years since it’s release from not owning a DS, and just a few years ago got a 3DS with Pokemon Moon on it’s release. Game box and booklets are in perfect condition so everything seemed good. I popped in the game, and it didn’t detect it. The game had a number of dirt particles in the teeth. I was devastated. I followed these steps and was able to clean up the game cart and it works now! Very rarely do I have to try it detecting from more than one insert, but it works flawlessly once detected. Thank you for helping me finally being able to experience and love this game!!

Nice but it's really OTT. Just a Q tip and vinegar rubbing on the back will do the trick 90% of the time.

Once something similar happened to my Draglade game several years ago and when I put it in my DS Lite it didn't work. But I gently used a pencil (the lead part) to get the dirt out and it started working again. 😃

I bought the zelda games on ebay and neither of them workes when I got them. I put them in and out a few times and phantom hourglass worked but not spirit tracks. I looked at the back and there was spilled juice or something stuck in the contacts. I just wiped it with a toothpick through a slightly damp cloth and left it a few minutes and it worked

Believe it or not i got my non-functioning ds cartridge to work by removing the little plastic dividers on the gold part. Just use a finger nail and scratch them out, also makes it easier to clean.

I bought a 3DS a while back but haven't really played in over a year but I got a hankerin' for some Zelda and bought a used version. The contacts look clean however the location of where the cartridge goes just so happens to be a comfortable place for my pinky finger at times so it loosens the cartridge. I'm having to teach myself not to do this in order to no disconnect the game.

Ive had some of the gold plating flat out erode. Their only my oldest most loved games and Idk if theres a way I can dismantle the cartridge and place a new gold plating on it.

I found 1 of my son's old DS games and gave it to my daughter to see if it would work in her 3DS, it surprisingly it does all but (what I'd call) freezing up at times. I've considered cleaning cartridge, as you have better in this vid... Think that would solve the "freezing up" issues?? ThamsThanks for sharing this video!!

Can someone please help me? I'm 99% sure no one is going to answer. I have a game called Animal Crossing new leaf on the new nintendo 3ds and it used to work but now everytime I play it it stays on the loading screen then it stops and crashes. on my screen when it crashes it goes back to my home screen and says "An error has occurred,forcing the software to close. The system will now restart. (Unsaved data may be lost.)" then restarts my 3ds. I try it again and the same thing happened. I tried cleaning the game cartridge and the slot where you put the game in and still no difference. Someone please help me because I put so much effort into that game.
