HAHA! Said that a 'few' times in my life. The tire pumps now are mostly universal so you can just stick either a Schrader or Presta valve in without having to rearrange the guts like we used to. I guess I've been lucky; never had a core break on me. More to cuss at Presta.....

Until a few months ago I I was only buying new Continental inner tubes that had the valve in one piece. Now the LBS sell only tubes with this removable insert. What happens is almost every time I pump the tire the Zefal pump pulls out the valve insert when unscrewing it after pumping. The same happens when I use the adapter and pump the air at the gas station. LBS has a special small key for tightening the valve insert that they do not sell to customers. What a shame, the tire companies should sell one of those with every inner tube. I tried to tighten the valve inset with pliers (like you did in the video), but after a few times doing that, the threads on the insert are ruined. I will try to use Loctite with the insert. May be that will keep it in place.

Very interesting that in your case the removable valve core is clearly a disadvantage, and I can see how a loose core would be problematic, especially with a pump that you have to screw on. For home use at least, can't you get a pump that you don't have to screw on? As for the valve core tool - I managed to get my hands on one and it is so much better than using pliers! Do try to find it online, it's relatively cheap and worth it if you have to deal with this problem often. Here's the one I use and it works well. www.bike-components.de/en/Schwalbe/Valve-Tool-Schrader-Sclaverand-Presta-p82265/ All the best!

This one will only work with reputed brands tube , not for decathlon tubes, wtb ,etc
@TheIndianCyclist Жыл бұрын
So far even the decathlon tubes I've bought have removable cores. But I have been told by others that they don't as well.
@petar36833 ай бұрын
You know not all are removable, this is pretty misleading to some people

You're right, I thought I mentioned it. In my 6 years of going through dozens of tubes, I didn't find a single tube without a removable core.

Where are you based and how much do you buy your tubes for? My tubes cost about $5 ... maybe the more expensive tubes have them?

Hi is it possible to tighten the valve core so much that it will not loosen overtime if not never loosen anymore?
@TheIndianCyclist8 ай бұрын
I don't know for sure, but I doubt this can happen. Btw, you also get a special tool to unscrew the core, might be better if yours is stuck.

can I add sealant into the tube?

If it's special sealant for tubes, then I believe so - this would be the way!

Another simple solution... get a tube without a presta stem.
@TheIndianCyclist Жыл бұрын
Haha, I hope you were being facetious, Alex! But for those who don't get it - this won't work because the valve hole in your rims won't be large enough to let a schrader stem through - please don't drill to make it larger (despite what some KZfaq videos might tell you to do!)
@VVVVV00 Жыл бұрын
Waste of money. Why are these valves being sold?
@TheIndianCyclist Жыл бұрын
There are some benefits over the schrader valve, like better air retention, and better pressure adjustment, especially for mountain bikes. If you aren't too rough with handling them, they can last a long time.
