Stick your hand inside the sound hole and pop the pins up from the bottom! Be careful not to dislodge any wiring if you have a piezo or something.

Reaming the holes would be a better fix but does require a speciality tool.

What’s the max amount that’s ok for the bridge pins to be sticking out a little ? Is 2/16 to much ?

@@nobrain8963 Martin ships guitars with the pins sticking up a bit. That allows for them to continue fit as the bridge pin hole wears bigger.

I hate to say it but.......thinking caps on. If the pins aren't of military uniformity, that's really no big deal at all - it's just OCD. What matters is that they seat firmly and hold the string. If a pin goes all the way in right up to the "shoulder" with the string in place, it's too small. Trimming them to get the pin "right down" is a mistake. Using a reamer is a much worse mistake. They should sit a little "proud", maybe a couple of millimetres but "how much" or "Are they all in line?" doesn't matter. If it sits a little proud, you know it's filling the tapered hole and is seated firmly - holding the string. If it ain't.....you don't know what it's doing. If it seats right to the shoulder, it's too small. To put a string on. Put the ball end at the top of the hole and push it down with the pin. Hold the pin in place, give the string a bit of a sharp tug to ensure the ball end is on the bridge reinforcing plate inside the guitar - not on the end of the pin or floating around inside the guitar. It seats the pin with enough tension and everything where it should be. You should then be able to forget about the bridge end, carry on with all the rest of it without any pins popping up, loud bangs or sudden loss of string tension when tuning to pitch - all that kind of thing. If not, the pins are probably not original, changed for cosmetic reasons, seeking a different sound, replacing just one that has broken, lost etc. Generally, it's better to seek different pins than shell out for a reamer - you can get after-market pins all over the place, there's a link here to do just that without messing your favourite guitar around. It's going to be very, very unusual that a guitar in your hands needs any attention to the pin holes.

Mine has this problem - not seated all the way down as the others do. I noticed buzzing at the bridge pin/hole... is it because of the pin not seated fully??

@@bubbly3382 i finally figured out why it was so bad on mine... the piece of wood on the other side of the bridge ( the bridge plate) was faulty. The factory had drilled the hole for one of the strings TWICE - it was not a clean hole, hence the string's ball end & pin were not fitted tight. I stuck my handphone inside the guitar to take a pic & that's how I found out. Maybe I was unlucky that this error excaped QC. Been promised a warranty replacement :)

@@kckong3 OH ! sorry to hear that.. And thanks for replying me.. @@bubbly3382 That isn't bridge pins. Neck relief (truss rod adjustment, first thing to check) or a high fret. Popping pins when re-stringing is usually "ahem" - not knowing how to change strings. Sometimes it can be the pins are too small but that's not usual on any factory-supplied.
