I found a Bissell vacuum next to the dumpster today that wouldn't turn on, and following this video I was able to diagnose that it was a dirty switch as well. Now I've got a nice vacuum to replace the ancient one I've had forever. Thank you!

Thank you for taking the time and making the effort to create this video. I have a Hoover cannister that's maybe 30 years old. Made in the USA. It started and then stopped working. It would have cost me at least $100 to have a repair technician even look at it. I don't believe I'll ever find a new Hoover made in the USA in my lifetime. I then saw your video and thought, I have nothing to lose trying to repair it myself. I opened up the machine and discovered it was the switch. Including giving the machine a thorough cleaning the repair took me maybe 30 minutes start to finish with about 15 or 20 of those minutes spend carefully cleaning the inside of the machine. I wouldn't have even thought to try it without having seen your video. Thanks again!

"It's ALIVE" Nice one, seems like such an unlikely failure yet this happens quite a lot on this type of motor. Series wound or so called "universal" motors that may be able to run on AC or DC. There is a lot of back or counter EMF (electro-motive force) due to the inertia of the armature and the brushes feeding a very high voltage albeit very brief that cause a fairly big arc to flash across the switch contacts. Some of the original lubricant is no doubt what turned to carbon. I like little switches like this, or the momentary on types they can be easily be taken apart cleaned and or converted to normal on off types. Fun video , top job (again)

Another video that’s easy to follow, and can potentially help people save a lot of money. I realize that this was only a normal household vacuum cleaner, and not a workshop power tool. But I was a little disappointed that you didn’t include a “this is also a great opportunity to inspect the length of the power cable for cuts and other issues” segment to the video. Perhaps you could add that to another video one day? I’d bet you could make some great “power tool maintenance” videos. Cheers from Denmark

Get yourself a glass fiber contact burnishing brush. They are the perfect tool for cleaning contacts like this. They are very fine and do not remove much material or scratch the contacts. electronicsNmore and friends: If you are not receiving notifications, unsubscribe wait a few seconds, and then subscribe and ring the bell to receive all notifications. This worked for me for many YT subscriptions. This undoes what YT has done to proactively shirk responsibility until the next time they pair down notifications for reasons only God knows, but probably prioritizing video producers that they have not demonitized (aka GREED).

They say it's non- replaceable fuse, it is a no power issue, but I've tested and the fuse is blown but works with a bypass wire but not a smart fix.. lol They make fuses for a reason🤔🤦‍♂️. Why other than to drain people of there hard earned cash, it could have been such an easy fix, but I'm not that lucky... Ever! It's a glass fuse on two posts soldered into a small board next to the foot power switch. Many people throw out perfectly working devices and only a small thing like cheaply made switches make people throw them away. so much electronic waste. Funny every time something breaks people say $%^&*, while you say GREAT a new video idea :) typing this while fixing something else to test the electricity with a 9v battery on alligator clips with a cheap battery tester. hard to see when vision gets worse which I fix things less due to eye strain. silly me the power supply adapter has a cut... again. typical. What a wast of time to unscrew the device since the tester showed power in the power supply before but its seems random.
