Great video! Wanted to mention, you can also put the rubber actuator into boiled kettle water for a minute or two and that softens it a lot, fixing the issue - I'm surprised by how well it worked 😁 Maybe a good alternative for those who don't want to cut the rubber 🤙🏻

Nice, didn't see your tip but must work! I did the cutting first, seemed to work good enough for now. Might need to buy a new piece if that gives in after some years...

Yaaaay! - I’ve got my hihat pedal back! Can’t thank you enough for the boiling water tip. I was literally on the verge of buying an expensive new pedal & just thought I’d check out KZfaq which led me to your comment. Yep, I can confirm that it works like magic & I’m very pleased, thanks again😊

Surprised how common this problem is! Took my TD-1 out of storage last week and had the same problem. I used boiling water and also cut the rubber - now my hihat can "close" again. Thanks!

Hey there Mark:) Thank you for the help it was very useful! One question, my high hat pedal is not responsive but the cable is also not, when i touch the tip of the jack for the kick drum for ex.. it makes a contact and the kick can be heard, when i do the same thing with the jack for the high hat i have no response and it should! Correct? i am asking because if the cable is not working obviously the pedal won´t! how can i see if the cable is working? do they sell the cable array? kindest regards, Filipe Máximo

Yeah mine made a noise when being plugged in and out of the pedal even when the pedal wasn’t functioning properly. Your best bet to get a spare one is eBay

Thank you the video has been very helpful. Just ordered my replacement sensor. However, would you know where to buy the component where the sensor plugs into? In case that’s the bit that’s broken for me as well. Thank you.

Hi what about the kick pedal..is it the same?

The kick pedal is different because it doesn’t have the rubber part which also mean it’s less likely to have this issue

Help I am a new drummer with this kit and the hi hat is reversed its making a closed sound when i put my feet on the pedal really hard and open when im not pushing down

This suggests perhaps the rubber in the pedal is in the wrong way www.reddit.com/r/Drumming/comments/wkfd74/is_my_electric_roland_td1kv_broken/ - If this isn't the case I'd try factory setting, unplugging everything and plugging it in again and seeing if that fixes it

Mi pedal responses but you have to stomp it very hard, I don't know if I have to buy a new sensor

That sounds like it’s more likely to be the rubber part

How do I know if it is the pedal or the jack?

When the Jack is fine it does make a hat noise on contact with the pedal input when you put it in or remove it

@@HelmerSLundal I’m not sure if there’s an easy way to test anything else without buying a second hand whole cable unit off somewhere like eBay…I’m not an expert on these kits though, this video was just what worked for me
