Mixer (plumbing)
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cooler_...)
Mixer - a plumbing device that allows you to regulate the flow of water and get water at the required temperature when mixing hot and cold water. In addition to this (main) purpose, bathroom faucets are able to direct the flow of water to a spout or a shower head. Most often mixers are made of brass, on top of which decorative electroplating is applied.
This device, combining hot and cold water in one tap, was invented by Sir William Thomson, known as the physicist Lord Kelvin. [The source is not specified 840 days] This invention was implemented towards the end of the 19th century, and in the middle of the 20th century, Alex Manukyan was invented and patented single lever mixer. At the same time, its mass production was also established.
A faucet, an obligatory utilitarian element of the bathroom and kitchen, performing an aesthetic function, is also an important part of the "active" décor of these rooms.
For a thermo-wave shower, special mixers can be used that control the degree of contrast between hot and cold water.
Device and classification
By the principle of mixing water mixers are divided into faucets with separate cranes, single-lever, thermostats, electronic and faucets with a double spout (under the filter).
Mixers with separate cranes (two-armed) have two independent cranes, or valves, each driven from its flywheel. This design is very simple, inexpensive and relatively reliable.

Single lever mixers have two degrees of freedom on one lever, which gives several advantages:
The mixer "remembers" the set ratio of hot and cold water, and at the subsequent opening it gives out water of approximately the same temperature.
It is possible to regulate the flow and temperature of the water separately. In separate mixers, if you want to save the flow of water, you have to re-configure both cranes.
However, the above advantages are fully realized only with a stable and symmetrical head of water.
By design, there are two types of single-lever mixer:
In ball mixers, a polished metal ball with three holes corresponds to the adjustment of the water current. The change in their position relative to the inlet holes ensures the adjustment of the head and temperature. The advantage of this mechanism is the simplicity of the design. The main drawback is some inconvenience of adjustment: the gaskets in such a tap have a large contact area with the ball, which means they create a sufficiently large friction of rest, which complicates the smooth adjustment.
Ceramic mixers as a regulating element use densely pritertye plates of cermets. The plates are polished so that the surfaces of the plates are attracted, thereby ensuring tightness. Such mixers, as a rule, are more complex in design. For single-lever mixers, there are several standard types of cartridges, however, sometimes expensive models use original cartridges. These mixers provide smoother adjustment of the water flow. Before the mixer is recommended to put the filter, as the solid particles can get between the plates and break the tightness.
