The things I have learned so far is (a) make sure your farms have direct access to the export market, (b) make sure your farm vehicles can move around the farm area without having to get involved with other traffic, and (c) try to make the "farm" cargo terminal not particularly attractive for anyone else, by making access difficult or long. If you share any road with anyone else you are going to be in pretty big trouble.

Alternatively, maybe you could give the rest of the city more attractive cargo terminals to use instead of the one that's meant for your farming industry? I don't see much of a reason to make access to the farming industry's cargo terminal unnecessarily long and arduous.

My tip for fixing industry traffic is rethinking the placement of small buildings that create much traffic, like the silos (is that the correct english name?), which are small, and when many are placed next to each other, everything just blocks itself. By placing them spread out and with big enough gaps, they won't block other traffic. And of course keep them away from busy and important roads.

Biffa!! Thanks to you I started playing this game +/- 3 weeks ago and am in love with it. As you always ask for challenges, here you have one: build a city up to X population, but you can't bulldoze anything nor move things that are already placed (as in real life). -> Can't bulldoze roads -> Can't bulldoze abandoned/burned down buildings -> Can't move services once placed -> Can bulldoze: parks, parking lots, 1st Lvl buildings; but can't relocate any of them (you have to buy/build them from zero) Any suggestions to make it more challenging are welcome in the comments, the idea is to make it a litle bit more realistic.

I've discovered an interesting thing with industries where a single raw product storage will generate huge amounts of import traffic even when set to empty. Ive been simply placing a handful of primary production facilities, a bunch of processing facilities and only one or two storage facilities and thats been really helping manage the amount of traffic generated by my industries districts while also maintaining their profitability.

I usually put a ramp for trucks coming from freight train stations to allow the trucks to get onto the highway in both directions immediately. Some trucks will still go for local delivery near the station, but a large number of trucks will get on the highway right away and drive to shops further away. I also like to have inbound ramps from the highway as close as possible to the freight terminals for the same reason. In my current city I have what I call a "truckabout" where there is a freight train station on one side, a freight airport on the other side and highway ramps on each side. I put it immediately next to a highway so the trucks can access it right away. Some trucks will spawn from one terminal and drive to the other, while other trucks will spawn from either terminal for delivery in the city, and trucks from the city will deliver to the terminals for export or for further transfer to other terminals.

What I learned about dealing with heavy traffic in industrial areas is to make all the roads one-way, make sure most (if not all) the turns are right turns (by using tunnels or bridges), and as few intersections as possible. A zig-zag one-way road with dedicated on/off ramps to the highways is the best way to go.

Something I think you were missing in your farming district(s) is actual livestock pens. Those are where you get the animal products from. Given how the food factory was perpetually low, you could set a pen or two up near the 11 crop fields and give yourself another small warehouse for them as well to help your food factory. As for a new farming district name to include the new factory, how about FoodTea Farms (Foodie)
@sanshyuum14 жыл бұрын
Definitely going to want some sort of public transport option to the new farm area at some point. A monorail might work since you can do the monorail + four-lane road option for the road that all the fruit farms connect to. A nice passenger rail line would make the area look nice too, maybe with a metro stop or two as well (and use the metro/monorail/train hub as the main connection to the area, and then have a metro or monorail line to cover the area itself.)

I've been forcing my industry areas to get goods out of the industry zone via train. I've used traffic manager to not allow trucks down the end stretch of road in the area which forces them to use the cargo train hub. I've then created export zones with cargo airports at the edge of my city close to the highway connections. Some trains will go straight out, some will go to the export zones and export from there by plane or truck. Massively reduced the traffic. I also recommended using 'Enhanced District Services' mod which allows you to really micro manage how your industries work.
@Oliver-rh5bv4 жыл бұрын
What I tend to do on farming areas is to create 2 lane one-way roads and farms on just one side. So the traffic can flow on the opposite site of the farms and stops can be done on the lane closer to the farms. To control the traffic flow you can bend the end of the 2 lane one-way road at the end into a direction pointing away from the farms. So all the traffic will automatically go the the empty lane. 3 and 4 lanes may also work (using network extensions 2 mod).

You could move the big stadium in the new Hugo memorial university to the open area next to the water and below the canal area. That way the university can still grow with the unlocked buildings and the stadium will be nearer the train station, you could even extend the canal area tram to connect to the stadium.

put several small original game trading areas in between your campus and the industry area. like small separate 3*3 or 6*6 square shopping areas for every zone. so that the people that work in the industry or live in the dormitories have a chance to shop without needing to drive all the way across town, thus generating more traffic. anyway - no student can survive without a 24/7 shop in walking distance! i mean you ALWAYS need one more bottle to finish of the evening ;)

I think you need to add more animal pastures, especially now you have a food factory, it needs animal products. I think you have just a few of them in the old farming area and none in the new farming area. Also, I think you can check the tab for farming area to see whether enough products are being produced to fit the city's needs, maybe more processing factory for farming industry would help too.

Like the new area, great job. Trees are cool, but they also kill off "fertile land". Not sure if that will bother the existing farm producers or not. Might reduce their output if it changes the fertile land underneath them, as the output is dependent on the amount of fertile land they sit on.

So I deleted all barracks in all industrial zones. In about a week my income went from ~-$5000 to ~$150,000 and massively reduced traffic overall. Haven't found any mention of issues with barracks in any of the forums. Not exactly scientific so I can't be sure about cause and effect.

To solve the agriculture import, you might have to delete the trees you put down in the new farming district because it's now more forest ressources, hence less farming ressources and maybe that's the reason they are still importing so much? Not sure though. Thanks for the episode!
