3:57: note: the after dark DLC affects this way more then industries. During the "night" (not noticeable in your city because you play with constant daylight) most commercial buildngs, besides leisure specialization close down and don't pay taxes. In the morning the tax revenue for commercial peak, and normalize again during the day, only to drop again at night.

Is there a way to show this daily commercial income fluctuation? I´m asking because the number next to the budget shows not daily or hourly even, but weekly income, so the "after dark DLC effect" can just not be seen in this number i suppose. Not saying you´re wrong, I can easily imagine how much of a difference is between 0% commercial income at night, and a peak of ... lets say 500% of the daily average from 9-12. It´s just that, in my opinion, the fluctuation in the weekly income does indeed represent the way industry produces income in a very ... unsteady (forgive my english!) way. I was playing on a city with "some" industries (i had every unique factory, plus some oil industries, just to print me money basically). The weekly income went up and down from -50k to 100k within days and weeks even, very unpredictable. On the economy screen the income from commercial showed a constant, like, 5k (didn´t feel relevant to me, i have to admit), but the income from warehouses and unique factories explained the fluctuation to me, showing numbers from 100k to 250k.

With that new mega incineration plant, it would likely be better to change those incinerators in "Stay Safe Everyone" to waste transfer facilities. They pollute less for sure, however they may cause traffic, but I would be interested in seeing if that last part is true.
@seanC3i
@seanC3i 4 жыл бұрын
The new waste management system works very well. I'm using it in some new cities, the waste treatment facility burns as much trash as 4 or 5 incinerators, but you have to have landfills or waste transfer facilities to collect and temporarily store trash. treatment facility trucks only collect trash from storage facilities, they don't provide trash service directly. Unlike the other things that have to be micromanaged, the AI for waste management is actually somewhat clever. You can have a waste treatment plant and you decide where you want it to serve with transfer facilities, you can even mix and match the new waste management buildings with normal incinerators and the AI will allocate trash correctly so that nothing gets over-burdened. You only really have to balance the number of transfer facilities to the capacity of the large treatment plants - and you can still have normal incinerators doing any portion of the work in your city that you want. It's not like the fishing industry AI which is incredibly idiotic, there you can have fishing ports, fish factories etc and you'll frequently have the fish factory shut down because it doesn't have enough fish, while all the fishing ports are complaining "nowhere to send fish" because the fishing ports are wasting all their fish delivery trucks on intercity exports by road :(

The mountain to the north of your new housing area has a big flat area going up it. Looks like a old railway cutting etc. You could use that for a transport connection. Put a monorail of train station up there, link it to the train network or the monorail network by the stadiums. You could then link that new station to your new houses via paths and a short cable car.

I was really happy to see that for the low-rise area you followed the terrain and highway shaping that area. In those cases your cities look the best when gaps are actually filled. That was also the reason why I loved your Kerrisdale series so much. I wonder why you didn't continue that one. I can highly recommend to check Flabalikis Skarsgard series and Imperateurs Dream city series. I think they are doing also a great job in zoning the area's following the terrain and they have also a very good level of reality especially in having not so steep ramps, bridges etc. Anyway, I enjoy watching your Cities skylines videos. Hey Biffa. I would really like to see a proper redo of the garbage collection of Teavill using the new facilities. So the Smaller Waste Transfer centers dotted around the city along or near highways with The big processing facility further afar of the city. The two incinerators you placed at the end of the video in the new residential are price for the Waste Transfer Facilities. They won't pollute the water. Especially as that water flows through your city along the river!!!!!! Also, when putting in Timed Traffic lights, it would be cool to see the other options used. Like the "Someone is waiting option" to turn them into a sensored system. so the main road is mainly green unless cross traffic needs to move.

If you have multiple campuses? campi? i found that lower the education budget to the limit you want them to be at really helps distributing the students. otherwise they would tend to flood the one i build rather central and the others were struggling to level up/keep their level. At least until your population is big enough to support multiple campuses? campi? without a problem. Basicly reduce the educational budget, until the campus' student capacity matches the student level you wanna reach. That way you can maybe even keep that other university open

That low density area's main road is begging for a highway entrance at the end. Maybe not a full interchange but just one slip road onto the highway would speed up travel times.

With the new dlc there the waste transfer facilities that are supposed to be used closer to population centers. Might be a good place to use those instead of the incineration plants.

I think for the freeways where you trench under like in the beginning of this video it would look really nice if you used retaining walls on the sides instead of the angled dirt you get when landscaping is too steep :)

I'm so glad my partner found your channel. My anxiety, that has been under control for a decade, has exploded a couple weeks ago with all of the Coronavirus restrictions here in Canada. Your videos calm me down. They are my safe haven to get away from all of the news, anxiety and panicked feelings. Thank you SO much for making these videos. They are a bright spot in my day! Keep at it!

Hi Biffa, Thanks for the video. I really enjoy watching these because unlike a lot of C:S players on KZfaq, you still actually play the game and simulation, which at the moment is still where I'm at in my gameplay style/cycle; I just can't bring myself to plop everything because I always found the joy in city builders was in no small part watching the city emerge organically rather than just using the game as a city painter. Had a quick question, I listened to all the music that you listed in the description and couldn't figure out which song starts at 22:08 right after "Melissa" by Eveningland ends. Is that music from Cities:Skylines (in-game) and that's why I can't figure out what it is? Anyways, stay safe, glad your kids haven't driven you mad yet.

Note about 0:05 --> in real life never ever try to drive through a flooded road, never, it can end with you needing what is called "death care" in the game.
