I changed everything on my 2000 GMC Sierra 5,3L 4WD but the squeaky rattle would not go away. Its because of The Autozone Duralast belt was my culprit . A Continental Elite , like a Goodyear gatorback fixed it look for a 6PK2340, but I was able to mount a 6PK2335 size which is 5mm shorter. Quiet is nice. Spray water on your belt. If the noise goes away temporarily, you need one of these belts.

What’s the part number on that pulley you replaced?

I've tried new pulleys new belts I've made sure best I can that nothing's leaking on it but no matter what I cant chase away the nasty belt squeal on my 2000 Silverado. New belt stays quiet for a day at most and then starts screaming. Driving me absolutely nuts.

Try the idler pulley and take off the dust shield..

Did u ever get this issue resolved?? I have a 2000 Tahoe with the exact same issue. I've replaced the belt, the idler pulley, the water pump, and the tensioner pulley! IT STILL squeaks....LOUD. I spray belt dressing and it goes away for about 10 minutes and comes right back. WTF Oh I also replaced the alternator!
@telerover4 жыл бұрын
@@750ilbimmer If spraying a little bit of water on the belt, makes the noise go away, Its a pulley alignment problem. When you replaced the tensioner pulley was it am GM part or an aftermarket one like from Autozone (like I did)? I am chasing a similar issue with my 2000 GMC Sierra 1500 while in Mexico. The only adjustable pulley is on the steering pump, and it is pressed on. You need a special puller to move it in or out. There is internal threads in the pump shaft that the tool uses to push the pulley inwards. My threads were messed up, so a mechanic whacked it with a hammer and fixed it, at least for the morning. I'm going to buy an OEM tensioner, in case the Chinese knockoff has a casting machined wrong, maybe shim something. PM me on my youtube channel if you fix it please. kzfaq.info

I have a 04 silverado 5.3 vortec as well . I've owned the truck since 15. It's on its 3rd surp belt now. Every winter, cold fall ,rain, fog, it squeaks the summer months it doesn't make a noise . Do u think it might be worn out pulleys?

Mine doesn’t squeak it’s more of rubber going in and off the pulley ant fix ?
@aznnp774 жыл бұрын
Yeah, rubber appears to be rubbing off my belt as well. Let me know if you figured out why it's doing it. I just have my PS pump replaced.

I have a 2002 Chevy Suburban, and my truck been squealing for long time. It seems like when it's cold, rainy or squeals... but when it's warm no noise at all. My belts have been changed several times, but unsure what's going on now.

So what was the problem ???
@johnfradkin30034 жыл бұрын
I have a 2001 Tahoe. After 230K miles there was a strange sound coming from my engine compartment kind of like a flute being played. No idiot light present but it sounded funny especially on deceleration so I decided to replace the serpentine drive belt, idler pulley, and belt tensioner. Idler pullety and belt tensioner R&R were easy but now I can't get the new serpentine drive belt to fit. I've spent hours but it's still about a half inch short. Any ideas from anyone. I've watched the KZfaq videos and my situation is MUCH TOUGHER THAN IT SHOULD BE. The damn serpentine drive belt just seems about a half inch too short however it matches up pretty fine against the old one. How can this be so difficult ?
@jalton94164 жыл бұрын
You probably figured this out by now, but there are two different belts. One belt is for a 145 amp alternator and the other is for 105 amp. I bet you bought the wrong one. Check the RPO codes in the glove box. You may have to google the codes I bet you have the 145 amp alternator.
@johnfradkin30034 жыл бұрын
@@jalton9416 No, good thought but it was actually the right one. After much prying with 2 guys using prying tools, we got the belt on. So far so good after maybe 1000 miles. I think the belts stretch more than one would think when under load across the whole belt. The old one was so easy to get off and yet the new one was so hard to get on. However they seemed to be the exact same length.
