In this video you will learn how to repair ceiling fan sound problem . Ceiling fans may make different sounds like clicking, grinding, scraping, humming ,etc and there are mainly two reason behind all those sounds. First is bearing related , if the bearing gets wear off, got play in it or loose its grease and runs dry and second is if the shaft gets wear off.
This particular ceiling fan is making grinding or rattling sound and it cause due to dry bearing. To know which bearing is making the sound we need to open the ceiling fan and to to so we need to first disconnect the wiring connections then unscrew the three screws which hold the both fan covers . Then use a flat head screwdriver to slit the two covers . Now inspect with bearing is making sound then remove that bearing from its seat with the help of bearing puller.
After inspect the bearing in this ceiling fan i found that the grease was burnt and completely melted due to excessive use of ceiling fan . Now we need to re-grease it , but before that we should clean it properly with the help of wd 40 , kerosene or petrol. You might need to remove the metal or rubber dust cover from the bearing to thoroughly clean it.
Once the bearings are cleaned and dried up , you need to fill them with new heat resistance grease and remember to push the grease into the ball and then clean the excessive grease with the help of clean cloth. Now you need to put the bearing back to its seat and to do that apply some gear or engine oil to its outer ring then press it down with the help of hammer.
But don't hit the inner ring of bearing , you need to hit only the outer ring , you should use a pipe of same size to the bearing or an old bearing of same size to hammer it down and make sure the bear goes all the way in. Then simply insert the armature and place the other cover and tight the screws. In the end reconnect the wiring connection and check the fan if the sound problem solved or not.
