Hi Mark, I love all your videos! I recently started using your DIY CO2 on my 220L planted aquarium, (2 bottles at a time) I put the diffuser in my sump and the bubbles go straight into the pump and out into my tank, my plants are so happy and pearling constantly 😁 but my water looks like Sprite, similar to an inline diffuser. Do you know if they DIY CO2 would have enough pressure to use with a CO2 reactor? I would love clear water like the big shallow 😍
@MJAquascaping
@MJAquascaping 2 жыл бұрын
That's great news! And actually with a reactor you don't really need a lot of pressure, so should work just fine!

It does add a little bit of CO2 to the water, so it's definitely better than nothing. It's usually just not enough to make your plants ''pearl''

It's been a bit of a pain lately, but it's part of the hobby when you're a noob 😅

Great vid. I have a big question for you please - How do you optimize the CO2 equipment across all those nano tanks? There is something that just feels wrong about having a huge CO2 tank that is bigger than the actual tank, specially if you want to have multiple nano tanks, which is my case. I have 3 tanks, varying from 16 to 7 ga. I want to put them on a racking system - Can I have just one tank feeding all 3 tanks? A vid with some tips on the optimization of equipment across tanks would be fantastic. Thanks!!!
@MJAquascaping
@MJAquascaping 2 жыл бұрын
Actually I need to work on that myself... Currently I pretty much have a separate CO2 system for each tank which is very messy and not efficient. So I need to swap to a different regulator that has the option to add extra manifolds, so I can feed all 5 tanks on my shelf from 1 CO2 cylinder.
@mikkelkirketerp4884
@mikkelkirketerp4884 2 жыл бұрын
Yes you can - just use a manifold to feed 3 separate regulators

Hey, I recently followed you doy co2 tutorial with the gelatin and yeast, I'm using a neo diffuser but no bubbles has ever come out what do i do
@nytmaregt238
@nytmaregt238 2 жыл бұрын
Not a pro but make sure you have no leaks by putting some water on tube holes and also press the bottle and see if it is pressurized.. And also some diffusers are so strong that DIY co2 won't produce enough pressure to work through it Try a different diffuser or check the bubbles are coming without any diffuser.. Sometimes yeast can go bad so make sure that is also good.

You forgot to mention: light penetration. Oftentimes we can have mature crystal clear water yet it still looks darkish, simply because we have inadequate lighting or using lenses with the wrong angle. When we have >50++ cm deep aquarium, better invest on some 60-45° lenses instead of wide angle ones so the light can penetrate deeper. The reason why people rarely have this problem is because we usually make our aquarium at most 40cm tall, but for some hobbyist with less space, they might order a cubic aquarium (50×50×50 or 60×60×60), and usually they will have problem with factory-made lighting set because they're not designed to be used for such depth.

I have been trying for a year to keep a 3.5 gallon planted tank. No matter what I do the plants and animals die. The only things I've been able to keep alive are an African frog and some snails. I condition the water. I've added a filter. Nothing works.

Before anyone says anything yes it is cycled. Ammonia 0 nitrite 0 nitrate 5 ppm, heavy planted, HOB filter in 65 liter tank, fish are doing fine they're eating and swimming like normal fish.
