A: A 4 beep pattern is usually referring to a RAM error. Have you tried the RAM test seen here?

Q: What do I do if my computer beeps 7 times?
A: A 7 beep pattern is usually referring to a CPU failure. Run the Dell Diagnostic Test as seen here; • How To Scan Dell Compu... . If an issue with your CPU, it will have to be replaced. Its also possible the CPU is fine and its the Motherboard that has gone bad, as they tend to go bad before the CPU. Up to you which to swap out first. CPU would be easier. (Note: Some viewers have reported a RAM issue to be the cause of their 7 beep pattern)
Q: What if my computer beeps 8 times?
A: Some people mistake a 4 beep repeating pattern for 8. However, if your computer is beeping 8 times, its most likely an older Dell computer, and it would mean an LCD failure. Try reseating the LCD Cable. Then, if that does not work, replace the cable. If that does not work, replace the LCD.

Hey when I press my button the laptop is charging but when o try turning it the disc drive light blinks and makes a beep then nothing

Hello guys my laptop stopped working. It shows 2 orange and 6 white light with fan on. I ev en tried to remove battery and press power button for 30 seconds but it didnt worked. I also removed ram and batter and cleaned it and placed it on another slot but still it isnt working. Help me solve this problem.

OMG...you don't know how much you helped me just now. My Dell Inspiron 17R hadn't been booting since Monday and I was concerned that it was the motherboard. Turns out it was a bad RAM stick. Thank you SO much. You've just gained yourself a subscriber! :-)

You could just get an eraser and clean the gold contacts of the ram with the eraser, both sides of the ram and then try again lowering on(it may sound silly but it works)

Thanks a ton!!! Saved few bucks that I had to spend at a service center for this diagnosis. Luckily both the RAM sticks were intact and working for me, just had to remove, clean and put em back!. Worked amazingly!!. Thanks again. Subscribing to channel right now!

@@PC_Monkey yo please I got a Inspiron 15 7559 will my foolish brother broke the the screen so currently am using an external monitor (which it's a 4k 30fps tv show) to see Windows but when I bought a 500 gb nvme SSD I plug to the motherboard but it didn't show in the bios or windows either so since I figured out that Im on Legacy and the nvme SSD doesn't work on it I directly headed to bios And changed from Legacy to UEFI with secure boot enabled and a messege popped up saying that this requires windows to get reinstalled so I proceeded with yes and I saved changes with existing and I prepared a USB with windows 10 in it so I plugged it in and turned on the laptop with it I expected a windows 10 logo to appear but I started to get these 3 long beeps with a short 5 after it and extra 2 beeps After it also but there not in the same length The two beeps are a bit far from the other 5 before it So please send me a reply in WhatsApp so I can send you the recording beep so you can hear it more clearly other then this long explanation

Hi Jamie, Thank you so much for the video. I have a Dell Vostro 3550 and it beeps 5 times when I start it. As soon as windows 7 starts, I can hear that noise in background, very low volume. Is it possible the bios battery to be faulty and need to be replaced?

Hahahaaaa. I installed new speakers. Was getting 2 beeps. I never put my RAM back in. Dont know how I missed it but you saved my frim having a Clark W Griswold moment. Thank you.

This happens every few weeks. 5 beeps, each beep with different sounds. This happens 3 times with the 5 beeps, then pauses. Then resumes the sequence again. The lap top does work, after turning this off

Gonna explain thoroughly.. at first I had a BIOS problem and you helped me fixed that.. but then I realized the laptop was getting hot too quickly, like about 15 mins after turning on, so I thought it would need cleaning because the laptop hadn't been operating for over a year. I did so, but then turning it on now, 8 beeps and the screen won't come on

If its beeping 8 times, that usually tells us there is an issue with the LCD. Either it or the LCD Cable would need to be replaced. However, since you were just in there, perhaps the LCD Cable is loose. Also, often a pattern of 4 beeps repeating can be misunderstood as a pattern of 8. 4 beeps is a RAM issue. So if the LCD Cable is not loose, try the RAM test as seen here.

Very useful. Just got a charge cord for my wife's old XPS and it started screaming at me. Now I just need to look into how much of a hassle it will be to open it up and check the RAM. Guess I have a weekend project to do!

My Dell 1501 beeped continuously on startup. I removed the keyboard and beeping went away. So I clicked every key several times, cleaned with compressed air, cleaned the ribbon cable with alcohol, reassembled and all is working. 2007 laptop 4GB Ram, now running WIN 10 20H2.Bottom line -it could just be a stuck key. Clean and re-seat everything before trashing.

Thanks for the video. I have an inspiron 7000 laptop that beeps 5 times in a row at startup. It'll usually do it for about 3-4 times [of 5 beeps], then start up.

Hi, I've just started getting this today on an ancient Dell PC that I use inside a Bartop arcade cabinet. It sounds to me like a pattern of 3 beeps that plays 4 times in a row and then stops. I can hear the fans running but I just get a black screen, it doesn't even get as far as showing any of the bios screens. 3 beeps is the motherboard, but 4 is the ram issue where it won't start. Soooo... black screen, I can't run the Dell Diagnostics or a BIOS Reset. Any suggestions as to what I can do please? *Edited: NVM fixed it!* Just to see if it would make a difference, I took the single solitary stick of RAM out, gave the contacts a bit of a clean on the stick itself and stuck it into the other RAM module slot and hurrah! The PC worked again... for about half an hour when it just suddenly died midway through a game. But I managed to fix it again! Thought the whole motherboard had died as it didn't look like it was getting any power, then it started stopped, started stopped - no error beeps or anything. But I did the highly technical fix of just moving the PSU around a little and unplugging and re-plugging all the cables and power connectors and Bob's your mother's brother - the Al-Cade lives again! Booooom!

This video is for a Dell computer that beeps at startup and wont fully load. Most brands of computers / motherboards will have 'beep codes' to identify certain startup issues.

@@PC_Monkey There is no problem with the laptop, I can use it like normal when it beeps and when the beep stops 😂. Lucky me I guess 😂. But I still need to bring it to the service centre for repair, right ? Btw, a friend's Macbook cant be opened due to she forgot her pswd. Is there a way to reset the pswd without bringing it to the service centre ? Thank you so much 🙏🏽.

Hello sir , can you help me with a non-solving problem in my HP Zbook 15G4 , please ? where the device during working (not when startup) gives a sound "one Beep" for less than a second and continues to give that short Beep regularly may be each 15 minutes or less , I really don't know what's the problem except that it appeared after installing new Hard drive (HDD for storage my files) with the old one (SSD for system data) , a maintenance person try to solve this sound problem and checked the cable joint of the HDD and told me that it's OK .. I did the Quick test as your video but no error ?? the device is working but this sound feel me that something is wrong specially it was without any sounds since buying it and along 3 years ago

Hi! So my laptop beeps when I plug in the charger. It’s about 5 very loud beeps. I tried the steps in this video but was still beeping. Any thoughts? Tysm!

Thanks, I’m gonna try this, hopefully it works because I’m still unsure as to what is broken, sometimes my laptop will start up with no beeping, other times it beeps and then shuts down, honestly my solution to this is to just throw my laptop in the fridge for a few mins and then it starts up fine so I’m thinkin it could be a heat sensor but idk

@@PC_Monkey it beeps in a pattern of about 2 seconds noise then 2 seconds silence, it continues this beeping pattern until my laptop just shuts down, typically my cooling fans also just go into overdrive until it shuts off.

There is continuous beep sound from the beginning(as soon as I start the laptop) and it never stops.

Does your computer turn on? What do you mean 'popping'. Like a popping sound or physically popping up? Does your computer work well otherwise?

It actually turns on with several times of tries and I'm really confused what is wrong with my laptop because there is a popping sound coming inside from the keyboard and I don't really know what to do because I'm just a 13 year old girl at 7th grade

@@PC_Monkey When I turn it on, it is too slow to open some apps like it gets stuck for a long period of time so I have no choice but to shut it down again

I have tried everything in this video but it is not working for my laptop. But the difference here is that in my laptop the power light stays on and the laptop keeps on beeping but it is not displaying anything on the screen.

Thank u so much bro according to beep codes table i could solve my problem, my laptop "dell" had 4 beeps which means Ram failure and i have 2 rams one above the other i removed the top one and my laptop worked in the beginning i thought the ram was corrupted but i noticed the problem was in the arms holding the ram itself one of the 2 arms didn't hold the ram very well so i pushed it towards the ram and tried to fix it using some screws then i powered up my laptop and it worked thank u so much bro❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

THIS VIDEO JUST SAVED ME. My laptop broke and told me hard drive was bad. So i replaced now it wont turn on at all just beeps and resets itself no screen. Sure enough one ram stick had a broken chip on it

What does 5 beeps means i reseat the cmos battery and it still keeps beeping I just bought this laptop and when I put a ssd in it and that’s when it start beeping and it still continuing to beep 5 times I even took the cmos battery out and it still beep at me idk what to do

That is usually referring to a CPU failure. Run the Dell Diagnostic Test as seen here; kzfaq.info/get/bejne/f9mhfLF03d7DeZ8.html. If an issue with your CPU, it will have to be replaced. Its also possible the CPU is fine and its the Motherboard that has gone bad, as they tend to go bad before the CPU. Up to you which to swap out first. CPU would be easier.

So we have a Dell Inspiron laptop. Every now and then it beeps really loudly while booting - two loud, fast beeps - a short-high one and then a deep low one. But then the laptop works fine. But that noise is too loud for my daughter to use the laptop at school. So I did a Preboot diagnostic test and the battery failed but everything else passed. So I decided to do the "thorough test mode" for each component - it made that exact beep noise as each test completed. So I think the beep must be the POST (Power-on Self-Test)? Will replacing the battery make the laptop stop triggering the test that causes the beep?

If that is what the beep is then yes. I would try starting the computer without the battery. See if that stops the beeping. However, yes, I would replace the battery.

My computer is beeping 8 times. It’s a DELL N5010 and the problem started when I installed Windows 10. Hello, I just purchased a used dell and last night I heard it beeping while sitting in sleep mode. It was beeping again this morning sitting in sleep mode. I sit down to see what was going on and went to go onto google chrome and it started beeping again. I unplugged the battery cord and signed onto google and it stopped. Now with that being said, when I have tried to get onto google, it keeps telling me that there was a error and google had to close. I also cannot get the bluetooth to work. It tells me that Windows 10 has shut down the bluetooth due to a error. Is it beyond hope?

1. Leaving a computer on sleep mode too often and too long can cause issues. I would avoid using it overnight and shut the computer down instead. 2. Can you try running the updates as seen here? kzfaq.info/get/bejne/eqqmZcp7qdDKf4E.html. Does that help?

1. Have you tried the RAM test as seen here? 2. A single or a 3 beep pattern is usually a Motherboard: Chipset error. First run the Dell Diagnostics as seen here; kzfaq.info/get/bejne/f9mhfLF03d7DeZ8.html. If that shows no errors, try to perform a BIOS Reset as seen here; kzfaq.info/get/bejne/bZx5ZaiUnrGbnKs.html
