Hey thanks for this clear cut video. My dryer hasn't produced heat in a while. I was being kind of lazy and cheap for no good reason to call out a professional. I been using fluff to dry which works but takes hours. I watched your video, popped the lid and saw one of those red wires wasn't connected to that thermo thingy so I connected it back. Now it's kicking out heat. Thanks so much! 🙏 😊

For that thermal fuse, you may want to mark one of the wires with a sharpie and then mark the corresponding panel behind it so you don't get the wires on backwards.

The thermal fuse is the small nickel size object that you have to go down deep to remove in this video. It has white wires attached. The high limit thermostat is the large object at 1:17 that has red wires attached. It should have a reading printed on it like L248-80 F on it. You have the names switched.

Great How too video!! My issue was the dryer wouldn't turn on. my smaller thermal fuse (white wires) had no continuity and was the culprit. Only couple of things (not covered) regarding the 2 white wires, Does it matter which terminal you connect them to? are they interchangeable? (same question about the red wires on the thermostat? Got everything reassembled, the thermal fuse was tricky to put in place. HOWEVER the top of my dryer and back vent get very hot.. pretty fast. I don't know if it did this before and I've already cleaned and checked for blockage. Did i mix the wires to the fuses? They seem to go onto either terminal not markings to indicate which side to plug them into.

Hmmm. Thats a great question. Im not sure. Im not an electrician but you are just making a circuit so I would think they are interchangeable. Keep me updated on this one!

Hello Is there a way to test the element though? Clothe is damp and dryer adds more time something it didn’t used to do. It seems to be blowing hot air but not sure if it should be hotter.

Hmmm, did you check to make sure it’s on hot (on the dial) also did you check the lint trap? If those are good your element could be going out. It’s not a tough fix. Try it and let me know.

I also dropped my socket into the bottom of my dryer. I ran a heavy magnet on a string at first to fetch it, but it was so strong it attached to all the metal .. Finally took the solid tubing from my vacuum cleaner, ran the string of the magnet down inside it.. then used the tubing to control the descent to fetch the socket.

Question: I changed everything - timer, cycling thermostat down by blower, heating element and thermostat, but someone had bypassed the thermo fuse below the heating element. The dryer heated perfectly before, though, then just stopped blowing any heat. Could it be the bypassed fuse? But if so, why did it work before? Confused with this unit. Maybe another part needs replaced? Thank you!
@TryThisDIYFix
@TryThisDIYFix Жыл бұрын
Hmmm. I’m not sure. But that can be dangerous if someone by passes one of the items. Yeah I’d check the bypass fuse too just to make sure. That could be what’s making it not heat up. Also check the wires in the back those can sometimes get blown.

Thermal fuse "if there's continuity you will see the numbers on your meter." Nothing changed on the meter. Does that mean it is bad? I guess so. On heating element never saw test results. So are we to assume you think it's bad? Mark the wires and their respective terminals. You need to assume you are giving instruction to a caveman.
