Yea bead them in I know a lot of guys like to stapple them on but sticking or planting as i call it is pretty full proof and not as slow as some think as you tend to stick the beads on with a few scoops left after doing 2 or 3 walls so no waste just like how i like it :)

We call the reveals to mate The margins im talking of is the distance / measurement from the bead to the frame making sure it is all the same the whole way around keeping the margin right if you get me mate

what a great video you can tell you have a life time of experience, I have a wall that is damp, I'm using sika 1 sand & cement to waterproof it but the wall is miles out of plumb so I was gonna put the waterproofing on 10mm or so. then use bonding to build the wall out plumb & multi finish over the top, do you think I will have any issues with that ?
@macplastering
@macplastering Жыл бұрын
Hi john mate thank you for watching and commenting .... So if the wall is damp mate i would not go near it with bonding as it loves water and is like a sponge will take it in and hold it forever might be best sorting the damp issue at source / cause then use a few coats of sand and cement to build it out 10mm would be fine in 2 coats mate could almost get it in one but be easier if you filled out and scratched / keyed it again do a float coat then skim again

@mac plastering morning Mac we have found after taking off a the ceiling & plasterboard walls we have a leaking roof (at home) so hopefully that will sort the damp in the wall out once it's sorted, the wall I will waterproof is ground level as there is no dpc, it's out about 20 or 30mm so I will just have to build it out in layers, hopefully the finish will be ok in sand & cement, as I'm a carpenter but multi finish & bonding are pretty easy to work with render is a little more tricky but if that's what needs doing I'll work it out, thanks mac I really appreciate it!

@@johns9543 I did find rendering harder to apply when learning to than gypsum as they are stickier :) You could add a little sbr in the mix it is great for water proofing helping it bound and might make it sticky for you but can also be a hard thing to spread as it tightens quicker and is stickier LOL you could scud coat then scratch coat 2 times if needed and a float coat and then skim sounds like loads but if not a big wall it will only be small mixes and we have videos covering all coats all mixes and methods that can be helpful mate and always here if you need to get a little help mate

@@macplasteringthanks Mac,your a blinder. thats a great help , I just bought 1200mm speed skim metal & plastic & the pole so that should help, I will probably run 3 batton's down it to level off & do it in thin coats, its a kitchen wall so it has to be square for the work top, it's about 3.5 m x 2.5m so it shouldn't be too bad, I have rendered a meter or 2 before so I'll just do it section's of the battons, I like the scud coat idea I just watched 1 of your videos in it, did you say I could skim over the finish ? In mutli finish?
@macplastering
@macplastering Жыл бұрын
yes yes so if you get the final float coat on of sand and cement then devil float it / key it up and a day or so later you can 2 coat of multi finish on its same process as the finish we use saying that we use both multi and carlite here

Hey Mac, have your ever used plastic render beads for internal floating? Is galv better?
@macplastering
@macplastering 10 ай бұрын
Plastic would be more expensive and possibly a heavy coat think I have used them as they do arch bead that are flexible so still the same way finished wise

If you were filling in a gap around a door and the angle bead was tighter than existing plaster as in there would be a slope from the existing drywall to the bead edge, what should one do?
@macplastering
@macplastering Жыл бұрын
Just seen your comment mate you could fill it out to a stick / rule 1st so it is sqare then apply the bead and finish I will drop a like to similar video but i think i finished it without a bead but same rules would apply :) video - kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mbdlrcqZl96rqWg.html

Hi mac love the video's mate, can you fix a poorly placed bead aroumd a window reveal with a new bead on top or should i remove and start again, or can you improvise with a straight edge? Im not a plasterer im a diy merchant atal 🙈🙈

Some times you can re fit another on top but can cause a problem where the two beads meet a straight edge might be a better bet mate something like so = kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mbdlrcqZl96rqWg.html
