it wasn't the same case for me, but it was definitely on the microphone permission. On the microphone permission screen, I selected "don't allow", then chose "allow only while using the app" and it fixed my issue.

Android 13 is just been a freaking disaster if I wasn't afraid of bricking my tablet Id downgrade to 12. The Brain dead stuff they've done to screen navigation with the taskbar and no option to use the classic method they've used for a decade and this stupid voice typing constantly stopping in the middle of sentence with gboard and everything else. These kids just programmed a piece of garbage. No quality control at all w these idiots. Here's the ultimate insult Microsoft couldn't have messed it up this bad.

Boy, based on the reviews, I had high hopes as my Google Assist will not place phone calls - it takes the command, says "alright" and nothing!!! I have spent hours trying to get this fixed - Samsung spent an hour and half trying to figure things out and finally said it was most likely a software problem - fortunately, my phone is still under warranty so I am going to attempt to exchange it!! None of your things in the video helped. I fixed it my self by thinking smart. I removed Google. And reinstalled it. Then it wanted me to setup google assistant again. After that i can now hear the google again.

Google voice to text is the worst I've ever seen, are there any options other than google? Anything even slightly accurate would be a bonus.

Wished this fix had worked for me but it's been a useless app since the beginning of 2022. Checking to see if the assistant works after every update is getting tiresome and futile.

When I clicked on this, I was looking for ways to make the mic button work for assistant again. I don' t like to have to say "Hey Google" whenever I need something. I much preferred clicking the mic button and then telling it what to do. Now, in 2024 February, they've removed that functionality from the mic button, so that anything you say simply turns into a google search instead of the assistant taking over. The assistant still works, mind you. But now it's only voice activated, which sucks donkey balls.
