Have you been frustrated with Helldivers 2 and the settings? I spent about 50 hours in game and want to help you guys get through the crashing by setting up your drivers and your in game settings for older computers and AMD GPUs as I also had to slog through the crashes.
With all these new games coming out and your hardware's drivers not being 100% up to date for all occasions i'm here to try to help you with that. Today, I'll share some tips to optimize your gaming experience, particularly for HellDivers 2, focusing on AMD GPUs and older computers.

for 7900xtx users if your game crashes and its a GPU error ( you will know because everything will close like browser discord etc. . . ) try tuning the max GPU frequency to 2400 MHz. this will stop your 7900 xtx from being at 100% usage which can prevent the game from crashing. for anyone using slightly older GPUs from amd just take 100 mhz off at a time to find your sweet spot.

@@liquidSS4 Negative. The 24.1.1 and 24.2.1 drivers are highly unstable for all games utilizing dx12. One option is to use the launch parameter --use-d3d11 to run dx11 instead. Another option is to revert to drivers 23.11.1 (and clean out the new ones), which have no reported instabilities. Third, there is an option in Helldivers2 that will lead to crashing no matter what version or dx mode you have set and it's the global illumination setting. Just turn it off. The frequencies modification might reduce crashing but will not eliminate it. It's a parallelization error in the drivers that can happen regardless. All the speculation about overclocking and power draw are just loose bandaid solutions. I'm about 50 hours into the game with the 23.11.1 drivers and a 7900xtx on stock clock settings and haven't had a single driver crash yet. Otherwise on 24.2.1 it wouldn't last but a minute or two

@@mr.pozole9891 You can just install them, but if you use Afterburner, you may want to perform a driver cleanup or DDU first because that app gets confused by leftover registry stuff from the newer drivers.

did a bunch of stuff to fix the game on the previous drivers and patch. new patch new drives issues repeated. i cannot be bothered to consistently fix a game on the user end cause they cant release a product. mindblowing really

unfortunately doesnt work for me. nothing works. i had to uninstall the game cause it was torture seeing it on my desktop but unable to defend democracy.

Suck to hear that. Try some of the other fixes mentioned here down below. I have stopped crashes since I fixed everything whereas I was crashing once an hour before

I have about 80 hours and I have crashes every 1-6 missions. Specifically after patches as they are not optimized yet. What hardware are you running?

I got a i7 10700, RTX3060 with 32Gb RAM and I've had maybe 3 crashes in total but now it's constantly on start up:/ @@CakeNinjaGaming

yup ive crashed many times since the new update. pre update i played 80 hours and had maybe 3-4 crashed in total.

i have 5 hours into the game and im at lvl 4 ive been able to complete a total for 4 missions and it drives me insane because it always crashes when im getting close to extraction, just found your video and hope this helps the issues i ve been having, have a 7900xtx red devil with a 5800X3D cpu with 64 gb of ram, really upsetting not being able to play the game

The newest GPU drivers helped some but its still not perfect. What you can do is go to AMD Adrenaline < Gaming < Tune Game Performance < GPU Tuning (Enable) < Min Freq = 500, Max Freq = 2400 < Max out the voltage.

I dont have any issues during launch or while at the ship, but for some reason the game keeps crashing while in the middle of a mission. Not constantly but randomly. I just did a 40 minute mission and it crashed while we were about to Evac, it also seems to happen during a Meteor Barrage, not sure if the game can't handle the constant variables or something else

Good News! They have fixed it👍 No Crash until now after 8 Hours Gameplay today. I have knowed it was the fault of the Game not the PCs of the People.

FOR RX 7900 XTX USERS ! After trying many things, here is what solved the crashing issue for me. It seems like it's a DX12 problem, simply set the game to DX11, and to do that, follow these steps: 1. Delete the DX12 installed on your PC : Open you "Run" command in your search bar > type %appdata% > Arrowhead > Helldivers2 > shader cache : delete everything inside of the folder > close tab. 2. Go to Steam > right click on Helldivers2 > properties > In the launch option copy paste "--use-d3d11" (Copy only what is in between the brackets) 3. Launch the game : Go to graphics option > Just make sure that "Screen space illumination" is turn OFF and that "Reflection quality" is set at Medium or lower. I play in 1440p, native resolution, all UTRA settings (except for the options mentionned above) and my game have been working perfectly fine. Let me know if that works for you, Helldivers. And see you on the battlefield ✊ My specs : RX 7900 XTX, Ryzen 7 7700X, 32GB RAM

Try to verify integrity of game files in Steam. If you still have the same problem delete the cache, then verify.

New patch makes my game freeze twice now. Running 14900k and 4 Rtx4090 both undervolted

Specs look Very good. Only fix I have if you fully undervolted is to Verify the integrity of Game files on Steam. If that doesnt work then delete the cache and then verify. Otherwise play around with your voltage settings as possibly your PSU isnt giving enough power for it.

7800x3d + 4080 = crash. it worked with msi afterburner. i clocked the standard-clock - 500 Hz (gpu and memory). actutally no issue. save the profile and activate it.

I have still the Crash to Desktop Problem. It freezed for a couple Seconds or stucks completly and then Crash to Desktop or i must close it because of Freeze Screen. Also my Mouse Cursor is Invisible.

@@jammywesty91 No, until now every fix don't works. It's like the Window is flying between the Game and Windows 10. Ingame my Mouse Cursor is totally Invisible and Pops Up sometimes in the Menü but still Invisible there. Very weird! I think that's why so many crashes! It's seems the Window is in a Room between the Game and Windows 10, very weird.

5800X3D, RX6950 XT, 32GB DDR4, all M.2 SSD's, Win11 Pro, install is 30 days old, and I am constantly crashing during games, usually as we extract. Like, reboot of the PC crash, every time. SUPER. FUCKING. ANNOYING.

@@CakeNinjaGaming I have found that verifying the integrity of the game files through Steam before playing is the only way to avoid the crashes. There are usually 2 or 3 files that need to be re-downloaded. As long as I do this, I can play without problems. It seems by playing, the files become corrupt again and I need to quit and re-verify after a while.

they are always talking about PC Specs, like, wtf this happens just after the patch, the game software is broken not my PC wich 100% of games work but not this one, its like pretty obvious that this is the game software problem.

It 1000% is a game problem. However if you want to play the game then you gotta do some work around… the game was never intended to have over 100k people playing concurrently

I dropped my clock speed to 2400 MHz and I’ve played 4 games straight without any crashes or mishaps so far so good , I’m gonna ride it out until than, thank you for all your help.

Rx 7600 Ryzen 5 1600, game crashes almost every mission(driver crashes). Sometimes the PC just hardcrashes (no bluescreen or anything). None of the fixes help. Probably a driver and game optimization issue. :(

If that doesnt work try 2 more things. 1. Try to play with your voltage settings as your CPU may also be pulling too much power as the game is demanding so much of it.2. Verify the integrity of the game files on Steam, then delete the cache, and reverify @@M4m1de

Try undervolting your Nvdia. Not sure the exact steps but if you look at it try to keep the GPU volting around 2200-2400 MHz
