You're the best! I'm very handy with a wrench, but my '15 XF 5.0 Supercharged always intimidates me. Every time I have a question, a problem or want to explore a new project, you have a video! Had intermittent blank screen, 2013 XF with 100K miles... Finally went out all together, Found this video, bought a new loom ($100) took 30 minutes to replace... works no problem so far. Thank you for taking the time to show me how to replace it (especially taking time and close up video of how those dang clips work, every car has so many different clips it takes so long to figure it out on my own.. and so many other videos they just say "unclip" and move along....Good job

Hi Hilton The screen went black yesterday in my 2013 XF and I was very grateful for your video which quite rightly identified the issue and saved me a lot of money and inconvenience taking it to my Jaguar dealer in Liverpool ( Hatfields) I picked up the new loom from Hatfields that afternoon for £48 ( It was in stock) and I ordered some (Metal) trim clip removal tools from Ebay and did the job this afternoon. It went very smoothly thanks to your video. A couple of tips Firstly I took the opportunity to make sure all the wiring running across the boot ( Trunk) lid etc was securely fixed using extra cable ties and duct tape to ensure it did not rattle. Secondly, when the trim clips with the central screws are removed they tend not to tighten up very well when you replace them. I found that using slightly thicker self tapping screws ensured that they were as tight as possible. Great stuff Hilton Steve

Dude, thank you so much. I was about to buy a new camera. But when you said this is a fiber optic cable it comes lika a thunder in my head, that the opening and closing of the trunk might have break the cable due to the bending amount constraints over the time. Hi Hilton, just changed the harness. When I checked the old one, one of the wires had totally snapped and most of the rest were showing exposed copper. Once again, thanks for your help.

Very good. I had same issue. I did not check the price here in Canada. A jag mechanic said it was more like 400. So I spliced all the wires myself. I believe the camera is coaxial. And the colour will come back with using a shield. So I first slid on small pipe and a heat shrink. Then I slpiced copper line and original shielding slid over the heat shrink. After shrunk slide over small pipe. Then electrical tape. Worked. It's clear enough and colour.

This is another design fault that has persisted throughout the evolution of the XF that the customer ends up paying for. Did jaguar never think that people would never open and close the trunk. ? One fog lamp had stopped working in my XF. I traced the fault back to the loom. Luckily it was just a case of unplugging the loom and a squirt of WD 40 and plugging it back together again and that fixed the problem. 👍 My XF is now with another owner. It's relaibilty has been questionable to say the least. My Jaguar X type was totally reliable and only had a new battery and intercooler hose clip replaced during its 136000 miles.

Once again, a big thank you Hilton for a clear explanation of both the problem and the solution. So far, I've had no rear camera problem, but can rest easy on fixing it if it's a wiring fault. Do you have any plans for putting in some ambient lighting?

Not had this one yet despite running additional cables through that gaiter for a 360 camera system. I though that was fixed for the facelift cars but apparently not. I've seen other whe re wiring has stress fractured. It would make an interesting follow up video to do a post-mortem on the old cable.

I'm getting feedback from suppliers now that the looms are no longer being made so I'm probably going to have to rebuild the loom myself. I'm wondering if the optical cable comes out of that housing at all. If so I can buy a standard cable and use those fittings.

Just a note, you need to check the part number against your particular model, in my case a 2011 XF-S and the part number is different to what you have quoted, for my vehicle it is C2Z19874

Finally received the loom after a few months. The one for my 2008 Jag had to travel from Australia (I'm in Europe) it was sold out everywhere. Anyhow, that didn't fix it. What should I try replacing next?

Is the optic cable the video signal carrier? 😮 I had no idea they are using this kind of solution in the wiring harnesses, and already almost 10 years ago!

Thanks for the video the rip Off here is you only need the optical cable not the full loom….it’s over engineered the loom is causing stress on the optic cable that is why it breaks probably in the rigid loom itself.

Good video thanks. I have a Jaguar XE R-Sport, 65-reg, early 2016 model, with a reversing camera flashing on and off repeatedly when reversing. Took it into Jaguar (Scotland dealer) who advised £108 for wiring loom after paying £176 for a diagnosis. Then they said it needs a new camera at around £2000. - Can you believe that!?

Hi all. My camera shows the image from outside but after a second or so the screen turns black and I get a message I have to contact the dealer. I already changed the Radio-DVD-CD module. the rear camera and the cables at the trunk. Screen works for all other programs as radio, CD, DVD, home ... .

When i changed it i used new loom wire but after that my car number plate bulb continuously shining what should i do ? @carFan
