Wind caught my door yesterday and got away from me. Door was catching on fender. This method did the trick. It’s a Ram 1500. Very relieved to be able to remedy the problem. Never would have imagined that I’d be able to fix it with a piece of cardboard! Thanks for the video!

Thanks man! this really worked on my 2009 honda civic si on the passenger front door. I just did it this morning. Just like you mentioned on one of the comments here, I did it with caution, I close the door really slowly while observing if the door or the fender will buckle. When I saw it was alright, I went ahead and close the door completely. Tried it a couple of times and it worked, no more grinding and noise. Again, thanks for this video!

Ok, so I just got a new car and day two the dang thing had a chip between the fender and door. On closer inspection there was a slight rub between a panel fold, the door was further out then the fender. I looked for adjustments and tinkered but nothing. I dread taking vehicles to body shops at dealers, I feel a lot of times they don’t car or are hacks. Let alone they say oops bad fender new one required and then I get a crappy paint match or blend. So I searched found this and HOLY crap it worked like a freaking Miracle! The fender and door are now perfect! Little tiny touch up paint for the chip and I’m solid. Thank you 1 million times over.

OMG, easy fix! Others have a piece of wood but I hesitated due to not enough give/bending wrong way...my door swung open backing up in wind and hit the hillside and twisted the hinge as well. THIS fixed the grinding and now I'm on to the dents! Mahalo from Hawaii. You saved me a bundle for my 2000Honda CRV still going strong!

Your solution worked great. I inserted a small crowbar between the cardboard to give more leverage and protect the door from metal on metal damage.

Should you start off by putting the cardboard where the touching starts and go down or start from the bottom

The door on my silverado got blown open by wind and when I try to open the door it hits the fender and I can barely open it at all. Would this trick work or do you have any other advice? Thanks in advanced.

I did that but with a thick broken tree branch and it worked really good, but I pushed the door too much in and now the door has a really big gap away from the fender, so how do I reverse what I did to get the door back to where its supposed to be which before the door was rubbing on the fender? Please help I can't afford almost $2000 for auto body repairs for them to fix it when I know that it can be reversed, I'm just not sure how

I must have folded my cardboard way too thick because on the first go it dented my fender in even worse so bad to the point where my door only opens about 6 to 8 inches be very careful doing this trick I guess I’m just stupid and folded the cardboard way too thick
