I was very fortunate. Unlike Nicole Sambrano (a year ago), I was lucky enough to see this video BEFORE I tried to replace the entire cable. The suggestion to replace the flapper style handle with a metal one is brilliant. Why replace it with a plastic one and be assured of having to replace it again? The inclusion of the Amazon link was VERY helpful AND considerate. Not only that, I will get them in two days. Thank you for making my life considerably better. All three chairs in my theater seating have broken, so now I can fix them all in about a half an hour total. This site has my HIGHEST personal recommendation!!

Wow! I wish I saw this before! I used to replace the entire cable lol happy to see there is a metal handle and it’s so easy to replace, I love my couch too!

Thank you for the video. I was able to replace my handle in about 10 minutes. I had already ordered the plastic handle. But just ordered the metal one for a backup.

Having a problem. I installed the handle but have to kick the foot rest in order for it to release and come up. Any suggestions?

Could be a cable issue and not a handle issue, when it is the cable usually the couch or chair is shot

That would be a problem because that cable to my knowledge is not something you can get replaced, but you’d have to contact the manufacturer of your couch or chair. Most of the time the handle is what breaks. Mine has broke many times.
