I echo the sentiments of many on here. My couch broke 2 days ago. Found your video on here. Ordered the part from your link. Fixed in minutes. The longest part was getting the upper screw back on, that took an extra 5 minutes. Pro Tip to folks, do the top screw first when you're done. In all seriousness, thanks for the video and the link. I was super bummed, and now it's fixed for about $10.

I wish I saw your video first I watched another one and took it apart to order what I needed well I didn't order the part for a while and I forgot how the clip went so I watch some other person and couldn't understand what they were saying and even couldn't make out the video how to put it back on I watched it 3 times and gave up then I figured it out on my own. I wish I knew it was this easy a long time ago I was using my couch recliner and just not as comfortable ECT. Now I know I will not wait if it breaks again I love my recliner best part is I got it at the flea market and didn't pay much for it and yes it was new.

Thank you so much for your video. The first part I ordered I broke it by accident. The clip snapped. I ordered another it worked perfectly, just have to really look at other side of couch to make sure you are doing it correctly before putting the clip in the metal. Thanks again you saved me from spending a bunch of $$$ for a new sofa.

Thank you so much for your great video!! I called Ashley and they refused to help me because I bought their recliner on Amazon!! I knew the broken handle was an easy fix; but had no idea what to do. Thanks for the Amazon links as well. I will order 2 of the metal handles and get a discount. I have their loveseat which also has 2 plastic handles. Eeuuww!! Have a very happy new year!!

Thank you so much. I can't believe I could do this myself, in just a few minutes. I saw another video where they replaced the whole cable, seemed easy enough, but so glad I saw yours, so much easier. I took the handle off a matching couch, on the side that we almost never recline, and replaced the broken handle on my chair. Now, I will order a replacement for the one I took off. My dog is happy too, laying under the raised foot of my chair is his favorite place.

I watched your great video after my side of our Ashley reclining sofa stopped working. I bought a replacement from your Amazon link. I got the one handle instead of a bundle. It came with the cable, which was a good thing because thinking the plastic handle broke, it turns out it was the cable! You say in your video "the cable never breaks" and to you I say "never say never" lol. Though you didn't cover replacing the cable, my husband did the replacement with my assist and I have to say it was easier than the handle replacement. Easy peasy. Thanks for the video

While the mechanism is out, stick wooden toothpicks in the screw holes with some woos glue. Let it dry, and put screws back in. Works great.

I purchased the furniture from EasyLife furniture when I was in California 6 yrs ago. I changed the handles twice before but this time around I just can't seem to get it. The handle is actually for the recliner. Guess I'll just have to get help on this one. Thanks.

Hello thank you. Your video I am sure it's the saviour of our NON BRAND black leather couch we bought nearly new 2nd hand. Our couch isn't that old about five years as we only sit and recline once daily. Our handle box is more the elongated one Something like this FOLAI Recliner Replacement Parts - Universal Black Metal Pull Recliner with 3000+positive comments. But I never saw the cable only the inner plastic body that has a moulded hole which frame broke and something snapped out of it I don't know if it's a cable or a spring. The footrest is totally blocked. Need to wait for the weekend to separate the one seat from the three seater and look under. Thank you so much for your video GREAT cute doggie :-) !!

Tell ya what works great for me is a zip tie. I know i sound stupid, but seriously it worked really good. The tiny plastic part broke and I just put the cable back in there and zip tied it to the other plastic piece. It works wonders!!

i did find a metal handle on Amazon, but I ordered the plastic one because I wasn't sure I was getting the right thing. I had to use a drill to gently make the slot where the cable goes into the handle a little bigger. After i did that, it was a piece of cake.

Very helpful. The Kuanyuoo handle (your first suggestion) would not work unless I kicked the bottom of the footrest to make it raise. I thought it was a defect but the replacement didn't work either. The TTmagic (your second suggestion) works 98% better but occasionally won't raise the footrest. Do you have a solution to this problem? Thank you

It sounds like a cable issue that might not be good you might have to contact the manufacturer of your couch or chair

Great video, I have a Bradington Young leather recliner. The release on the chair all of sudden stopped working. After watching your video I took off the two screws and iit feels like it still feels it is attached to the chair. I feel a little stuck at this time until I can get the release removed. I have the silver pin and no grooves in the handle so it's a problem (from Amazon). Can you tell me where you got your pin from? It looks longer. Thanks.

Hi D the pins come with the new handle. My older one had longer pins the newer one seems to come a little shorter but I was able to get it on. What store is your couch from?

Knock on wood mine has not broken yet. I’ve been able to extend the life of my couch, but if that happens, you might have to contact the manufacture or maybe where you bought the couch and they can get you in contact with them.

The two metal ones on your product description don't pull the wire hard enough to open up the foot rest every time. When it does release there is a bit of a delay. Occasionally the foot rest doesn't pop up and i have to hit it with my foot. They were easy to install but it doesn't seem like the handle pulls the wire enough ---like the pastic ones do. My sofa is an Ashley Boxberg reclining sofa. Any advice?

Ashley makes junk. I got so tired of replacing those things that we tossed our recliners in a fire pit on the 4th of July. We bought La-Z-Boys with the old style lever handle and never looked back! Thanks for the video though...very informative for those who haven't tackled this task 9 times on a two recliners in 3 years like i did.

I followed these instructions and when I got the handles off, my handles weren't broken in that way. This didn't fix my recliners. Do you have a video on what to do if it isn't the handles?

If it's not the handles then it's the cable which cannot be replaced to my knowledge

Most things don’t last as long these days but the prices we pay aren’t too bad depending sorry you couldn’t get it repaired

What happens if the actual spring is just not working anymore? The handle is intact but the spring action to release the recliner isn’t working.

Hi Rodney There is a cable and the handle, no spring. Usually the handle breaks or possibly the other side of the cable and if that happens your couch cannot be repaired

@@TechMadeEzy You’re right. I said spring but I meant cable. The cable seems intact, and the handle is pulling the cable correctly, but the cable isn’t releasing the recliner. I took the handle off and removed the cable. Can’t really tell what’s causing it to not work. But I’ll keep working at it. I may order a replacement handle and cable, and see it that does the trick. Thanks for the reply!

Looks like the hardest part will be trying to get the screws back in…wish you would have shown that..getting ready to do this now…😳

Just use a screw with some grip not too long and screw into some of that fake wood

@@TechMadeEzy ..just got ‘er done! We found that by releasing the foot rest into the up position, it allowed the handle to pull up easier and further to get at that screw hole. It was weird, because our LazyBoy couch had no clips to help secure that cable in place..we just used the new ones that came with the new handles. (I did have to take a utility knife and carve out that hole a bit more so the clip would fit right.) Thanks.. couldn’t have done it without you! 👍🏻👍🏻
