I’ve had my LAN cable for 7years and its worked fine with several systems. PS4, PC, Laptops etc. I would like to suggest there is a significant software issue or PS5 connectors are poor. Never had this issue only on the new PS5. Sony should own up to it and issue Hardware replacements or software updates.

These fixes can work, but it's usually the ethernet cable distorting from the heat if you're using wired LAN. The ethernet port on the original PS5 (I don't know about subsequent models) isn't very snug, and when the heat distorts the RJ45 connector, it pulls the contacts away and causes a disconnect/reconnect fault that people think is software, but it's not. I've replaced the cable on mine with a brand new one and the issue stopped until it, too, distorted from heat and I have the issue all over again. Sony didn't think very far ahead when they designed it - just the heat passing by the ethernet cable is ruining the cable itself.

My Ethernet cable works on everything but my ps5, it will randomly just disconnect & reconnect immediately out of nowhere at random intervals

I did what you said & tried the cat 8 Ethernet cable, best decision I made for my P5. I haven’t had a problem yet. Update: I take back what I said. I'm still having the same issue to this day.

Ig that my problem was that my ps5 was standing in vertical position all the time.. Sometimes cable connected but disconnected as soon as i even blew on it (i have cat5e cable). The toothpick worked a little bit in vertical position, but when i put it horizontally it didnt even need that. Ty for vid man.. It actually helped 👍♥️

If you have made any changes to your router, resetting it with the reset button will ERASE ALL SETTINGS and set them to default. Very irresponsible to suggest this without mentioning that fact. Other recommendations we fine.

It's the heat coming out of the back of PS5, mine is confined cuz that's the only option I got (no room for TV, soundbar and PS5 on top of the stand). But then I decided to check if I placed the PS5 somewhere else I'd still get the LAN cable disconnecting issue. Guess what? Not a singles time when the PS5 was on a small table I placed right in front of the TV stand, with better air flow. So I'm pretty sure it's all about heating issues.

I've been having the disconnect and reconnect issue for months now. It showed up out of nowhere, about 15m of playing it just starts cycling disc and rec, I barely play on the thing. I will try forcing a better connection, but this is on sony.

100% not hardware related. It is a configuration issue. The IP needs to be reserved and if you are using an unmanaged switch use port forwarding. I guarantee, as a test, if you plug the ps5 directly to the service line it will remove the problem!

Can't we use a lan cable to USB adapter and connect our Playstation to the internet using the USB ports on the Playstation instead of the lan cable port ??? Idk if the USB ports on the PS5 is designed for this .But the reason why I'm asking this is because most new laptops don't have Lan cable ports and if you wanna connect your laptop to the internet via lan cable you have to use adapter to do so

Been having this issue for months now and it is really frustrating because I literally can't play games online. I've tried a lot of things that I've seen suggested and nothing has worked. I'm not sure what it does but going to try the network settings you suggested. Hopefully that fixes it.

Ps5 starting to look like trash nowadays. Even when you call them for help. I told them my issue and they cut off my call three times in a row. It’s like they have no idea what to do themselves.

Settings > system > System software > Reset options > Restore default settings. Since yesterday i have the problem once i did this its all gone . Just try it guys. Nothing will be deleted just the settings.

Unfortunately there is no way to fix this issue. It's a bug with its system. It has nothing to do with the LAN not being connected well enough. You either have to get a new PS5 or just stick with WIFI connection.

1:25 I really do think it's an overheating issue. I've been placing an ice pack on top and it's lowered the amount of times I've seen the annoying message "LAN cable disconnected" "LAN cable connected"

Ive had my ps4 for abt 10yrs, used same LAN cable never had an issue. Now i switch it to the ps5 ill randomly get dropped. Tried it back on my ps4 and its fine. Definitely not the cable just a ps5 issue

Once mine connects, it’s connected until I power off or put it in rest mode. But getting it connected to start a play session is a nightmare. I’ve been restarting until it reads as connected, but that started to take way too many restarts so I started pulling the N64 strat and blowing into the port and that worked okay for a while, but I’ve realized it’s just up to God when it decides to work and doesn’t.

Don't just focused on the ps5 ethernet port as the issue. When you get disconnection issues atleast once while gaming, try to lightly move each end of the cables from ps5 or from the router to identify which is causing the real problem. Atleast on my end it was on the modem/router part as I have observed and adjusted positioning of the cable and modem securely in placed.

Something is short circuiting my Internet when playing. When back up I get 40 - 90mbps from marketed 300mbps package. Verizon’s last effort is replace the modem but they said not yet until Sont runs diagnostic on the system to rule out any hardware defects

I just grabbed my old GBA and laid it on top of my LAN cable, that did the job.

I have 1000mbps internet ,when I speed test on laptop or phone I get around 800mbps which is fine but on the PS5 I get around 400max on WiFi... But on wired Lan I only get 92.1mbps.....any idea why? I've done all the troubleshooting tips I seen online and I bought 2 brand new cat7 25foot cables and still only get 90mbps with Ethernet... Driving me nuts can't figure out why. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated thank you very much!!!

I genuinely know how to fix the problem for real this time. Can't remember if it was mentioned in this video but all you have to do is put a bit of folded paper on top of the cable in the port. It's because the ethernet ports are big for some reason. I use flat cables too which are worse but have zero problems with this fix

I would try unplugging your router and anything connected to your modem then reset your modem first after fully reset now plug everything back in and start your router. I would keep all Ethernet cables the same as well try not to mix up cat5 and cat6 and you don't need cat7 most of cat7 are not backwards compatible. After all that I would get another modem from your ISP. I noticed netgear is more compatible with Spectrum Internet services but to each its own good luck out there.

I have had this issue since last week. It seems to be around time PS released an update. Cant pin point it. I have done the various tests in the video. i will hard reset router tonight though. i have loaded up into safe mode and cleared cache and rebuilt also. i have tried various cat5 cables in house. would a cat8 cable make a difference (I live in UK)

Thanks to this video I now have download speed of 850.7 Mbps and upload speed of 22.0 Mbps

I had this problem on my Ps4 years ago, I also had it on my Ps5 too, it would go away then reappear sometimes couple of times a year. , it normally happens after certain updates on games, I've ordered a new cat 8, and I've had my cables over tens year's, also im using 20 meter cables and only needs ten meters. I'll let you know if it works.

So I have this problem. I can't fix the problem, but I've fixed the problem. I tell the ps5 to disconnect from the internet. Then I tell it to forget the LAN connection. I then restart my ps5. Set up internet and connect to LAN. When I'm done gaming now, I disconnect from the internet, forget LAN, turn off the ps5. I no longer have connection problem. If I don't disconnect and forget, the problem comes back the next time I turn on my ps5. I know this sucks, but it works. I'm not working alot rn and game about 10 hours a day, and I no longer have issues as long as I do this. Also, I've tried all the other software ideas that are listed here and around the internet.

i had the same issue with cat 6 cable then i bought cat 7 it made it better but still not reliable, keepd disconnecting me from time to time, this sucks cs i might be streaming and this shuts down my stream or disconnecting from a game that bans u if u leave midway, it SUCKS

I stuck a tac on the opposite side of other Ethernet clip inside the ps5 and it worked try everything he says if that doesn’t work most likely it’s the port stick a tac in it, it worked for me!!!

Just take out your lab cable for 10 seconds up to 1 minute it should work but that’s just how I do it

Its not our cables its a ps5 issue for sure its either bad software or poor ports or both i do a hard power cycle and it works for like 2-3 months and gotta do it all over does the trick for me just annoying i gotta keep doing it but only take 10 min

none of that works I've tried everything. it'll be totally secure after wedging something in there to keep it on place, and still disconnects randomly when there's NO WAY it moved.

From what I’ve seen the vast majority are experiencing an issue with Sony not with the wire, please test your Ethernet cable on another device before committing to purchasing another cable. In addition to rebuilding database(3rd) I’ve been informed by Sony tech support to force a system update(1st) then clear the cache(2nd) in the safe mode menu. You will need to hold the power button down after each step to do the next one. So far I’ve only had this work temporarily.

Mines isn’t disconnected but it doesn’t lower my ping at all so I have to wait for it to adjust

My router and speed were perfect. Changed to manual helped before but reset of the cache was the last missing part. P.S. in my safe mode was option #6 not option #5.

I also have this issue for awhile and happens from time to time. I already replaced my network switch. But today i noticed the ports in the back are extremely hot. Like I can’t pull out the lan cable and touch it without burning my fingers. I think I will need to see how to change the ps5 airflow or something and clean it from the inside maybe. This ps5 is not even 1 year old now. I’m also using very sturdy cat-8 cables btw.

This is a software issue. Send back your console. The ONLY fix. I tried them all. None of the "fixes" worked. None.

Okay you guys I figured it out I had my ps5 for 7 months brand new never dropped yanked nothing. The port is bad on these consoles I think they used a cheap part cause I got a new router and Ethernet cable from target and neither was the problem
