Saltspray as a salmon run stage would be cool to me, would be a nice way to bring back a map that would be uh, difficult, for multiplayer. I also totally agree on endless mode, no idea how it hasn't been a thing yet.

You should also be able to change the color of your reflective vest. Many colors are reflective!!

Adding new King Salmonids overtime would be incredible. The suspense of not knowing what fishy beast is about to rise out of the water on Xtrawave would be so fun. Plus, if future Big Runs are used as an opportunity to add new ones, it would also go a long way to boost how special Big Run feels.

I think everyone agrees that the stupid flyfish needs a nerf. It's extremely annoying, and it takes to much ink and time to kill. In my opinion, the best thing to do would be to make their hatches stay open for a longer time.

I believe that the Big Run reward should be something players work together for, not compete against each other for. Salmon Run is a cooperative game mode and yet they made this special Salmon Run event feel almost just as competitive as a Splatfest for no reason

It may tick people off somewhat but I kinda wished the older maps added in had changed topography. I kinda wanted Marooner's bay to be a tad more inkable and had more walls to climb up through. Maybe make the top of the elevator shafts accessible to stand on, idk. The one thing I'll knock Splat 3 for is introducing Surge and having like, 3 maps where it actually can be a benefit rather than a gimmick.

2 Player salmon run does NOT feel like easy baby mode, especially with how much Cap dies in game, just as Kora

I'd like if they allowed you to use different sub weapons. Maybe limit it to just bombs so no one would be stuck with zero ways to damage a Flyfish, but getting to use Suction Bomb, Burst Bomb, Autobomb, Fuzzy Bomb, and Torpedo would allow for more playstyle variety. I also think that winning a King Salmonid fight should guarantee you a small amount of silver/gold scales, maybe in addition to the "exchange" idea.

One thing that shocks me about Salmon Run is how hard it is to pick up for kids. My 10 year old cousin has trouble on the easiest difficulty so Salmon Run really does feel geared towards an older audience compared to Turf Wars

Forget the major adjustments, Id be really happy with a ban on glowflies during wave 1. It's hard enough when the map is already inked up and you have a sense of who your rando teammates are. Without that, all too often, its pretty much an automatic -20.

Fantastic video, agreed with pretty much all the points! One minor thing I'd like to add though, I feel like Big Run didn't get as much fanfare as it deserved? Like I'm not expecting a complete change to a horror game in the lobby, but at least having the inhabitants match the looming sky and creepy music would be a start. The atmosphere was great, but it was quite jarring to still see the residents just :) like nothing was happening. Some alternative animations with them maybe looking around worried or suspicious, maybe some of them are in their Grizzco uniforms when spawned closer to Grizzco. Heck, even Grizzco itself didn't change much - it activated a light. Splatfest shows they're willing to do plaza changes, I don't think it'd be too much to ask that Big Run gets some of the same love too.

I definitely agree about adding abilities to salmon run, though I'm not sure that I'd want it to be tied to whatever color suit you have. Imagine having your favorite color getting Special Power Up or something. I figured it might be a good use for all of those terrible bronze scales to maybe unlock abilities, maybe either in a skill tree thing or just available to use in general. But, yeah, abilities would be really nice.

I believe they’re likely going to be adding new King Salmonids in future Big Runs, and this Big Run was just the obligatory Cohozuna run. The Splatnet app shows which King Salmonid you fought in a run, which definitely implies more are coming at some point, be it in Big Run or just in general

I expected to be vehemently against whatever was gonna be said but honestly you make a lot of good points. I really like the idea of Splatoon 1 specials coming back, especially with how Mr Grizz isn't exactly the most law abiding denizen(ilovethatsplatanapleasegiveittomethemediadoesnthavetoknow) Also one of the biggest reasons Salmonids are harder in Splatoon 3 is because the fodder ones are no longer slowed by your ink

a change for salmon run that would be extremely cool is when the "thats a wrap" screen comes up due to wipeout, there is still time to come back to life until the " thats a wrap" screen goes away, and when you have the last egg for the quota to be met but you are too far away from the basket, you still have time to get the egg into the basket until the "thats a wrap" screen goes away due to quota not met. i hope this makes sense lol

Honestly, I really like the changes proposed here! I don't touch salmon run in splatoon 3 nearly as much as I did in splatoon 2, and it feels like the grinding in salmon run is exacerbated by a lot of the conditions that salmon runs tend to go through (bad weapon comps, bad maps, bad wave events, etc). I'm not counting on Nintendo to actually try to implement any of it (it is Nintendo after all) but dang it would be nice. and before I forget, fishy!!!

Salmon Run should seriously get a versus mode like Left 4 Dead, one team plays as the inklings, the other team plays as the salmonids and tries to stop the inkling team from filling the quota

Tiniest of tiny changes, but I would love if Big Run filled your coho meter faster (maybe 1.5x or even 2x). This is a draw for people who want to farm scales and make the gameplay loop significantly different than regular salmon run - you might be facing a coho every other game.

The issues I have are: cohozuna not having guaranteed good scales for defeated. Special lockers in grizzco with new items from a shop called the slop shop. Also I want customizable slop suit pieces where you get to either pick one “salmon run” themed ability chunk. A vending machine with possibly ability adder. Like team ink throw saver, ink saver main. It would be cool to see the suits have different styles and they have the colors be usable as customizable colors instead and then the custom style of choice is the suit color and different chunks. It would also be awesome to see different low tide sides. Also on top of this low tide shifts have multiple baskets in longer shifts where two baskets with individual quotas. Underground mode should be a payload delivery style where you have 400 eggs in four baskets of 100 and you go to individual stations and stop at them having to protect the loads as the gate opens for the next station. And you could get boss stages with a developing worm like king salmonid where it puts power eggs in its neck sack and it has a snatcher riding its back with a fishing pole with a huge power egg on the line. If the king salmonid baby eats enough of your payload eggs it does a huge hit to your baskets tanking your payload amount and then causing less of a paycheck at the end of the shift. There could be special waves etc themed for the underground and you could even have super rare Teenage mutant Salmonid and or Mutant Salmoid foot clan soldiers etc to go along with the 80/90s theme. Beating king should give 40 points instead of just 20, it would speed up the grind a fair bit

I hope we get actual different modes for big run for certain maps. I always imagined that for maps like mako mart it could be completely dark and we only have our headlamps and we have to take out salmonid in the dark or maybe hammerhead could just be like giant waves of cohocks coming across the bridge and we cant let any through

i really wanted big run to be the all grizzco weapon shift. it would be cool and also kinda show the severity of the situation. like the salmonids are in the city you need the best weapons we have available

I had this really cool dream last night where they added a new wave, and honestly it was quite interesting 1. Flood the main map floods, the screen glitches out, and the waves seen at the bottom of the screen rise much higher than they usually do even at high tide, the players are launched to a previously unseen part of the map (in the real game this could be an elevated area on the mainland I guess), and they're forced to survive an extra difficult round on this unfamiliar landmass.

I think it would be great if there were special events every couple of weeks we get special grizzco shifts like a weekend with only night time waves that give better rewards or only low tide waves with thr same gimmick but I think it'll encourage more people playing salmon run

All the way from your “How To Use ____ Weapon” video back in Splatoon 2 with your Flingza Roller video (and I’m talkin’ the OG one, not the re-uploaded one 😂) Your videos always seem to have a perfect balance of both analytical and comedic content, so that your viewers learn something and are more educated while having a great time + having some laughs! I LOVE the idea of being able to have a different hat or suit to add a single big stat. I get the idea of letting people approach it from the same baseline, but everyone's play styles are different. Like, I have to run bomb resist on anarchy mode, cuz my reaction times can be a bit slow when it comes to bombs. On Salmon Run, I'd probably run ink up or ink recharge, cuz I can't seem to notice I'm running low as easily.

I really love the condition voting system for endless mode. That sounds really fun, AND frustrating when that one guy breaks the vote for the obvious best choice.

They should add upgrade station for the weapon. Just like splatoon 2 campaign. But with the addition of reuse your special, increase ink tank, increase range egg throw, and etc.

at the very least killer wail should be able to target dead players as it does the bosses / enemy players in turf war so you can actually revive with it

The positive and negative thing for the theoretical endless mode is the same system they have in “shotgun king the final checkmate” and that game has the best upgrade system I have seen in any rogue like, it is a fantastic idea.

multiplayer medals should exist in salmon run too, theres very little incentive to play better right now - stuff like most revives, little to no deaths, and overall having equal power/golden egg counts as a whole team should be rewarded, on top of encouraging people to play the roles of the weapons they get because quite frankly im tired of having to deal with stingers using a roller or smth whilst our teammate with the jet squelcher is busy shooting at scrappers. its possible to succeed with every rotation, some people just dont know how to play specific weapons 🤷‍♂

I’ve thought about the hub being the final Big Run being genius too.

I was just thinking about salmon run changes, but I think it'd be pretty cool to have a special wave or event where specials charge like in regular battles, so more than 2, and the difficulty would obviously scale to compensate. But maybe the balancing would be a little fishy...

Honestly, you are right about the final big run taking place in the plaza. Though I would imagine the Splatoon 2 one being used.

So genuine question, why is Reefslider in Salmon Run? I'm guessing it was intended to be a way to clear enemies or make a quick escape but when a Chum can splat me the moment I activate the special and it can easily get caught on walls and slopes... why is it there? It feels so pointless that I often forget I have it and on the occasions I do it's completely unreliable or doesn't compliment the weapon I'm using. Splashdown is already in 3, just bring it over to Salmon Run! ;-;

I don’t know why Big Run wasn’t a different mode entirely from the normal Egg Collecting. Why not have us defend a point from Salmonoids where you fail if it takes too much damage? That makes more sense with the lore of the event and adds variety to gameplay. Eggs can be used like in Coho to quick kill bosses or heal the point

That last one is actually a good way to increase your points. If you were able to pick the hazard level and beat those wave you would get more points depending on the hazar level you chose with point cap of 60 or 80 per match to not make things too easy maybe, and if you were to lose then you would also lose a lot of points.

I find it so crazy to get a silver and even gold even if you didn’t kill Coho 💀 I want gold scales like Sea Snails from Big Run. It’s insane how we could have a real good rotation, yet my teams struggled harder than when they had a bad rotation. I want Nintendo based maps from different franchise for a temporary time cuz why not- YES REPLAYS YES GIMME- I WANT SHIRTS JUST IMPORT THEM INTO S3, GRIZZ CMON.

Your idea for abilities to be on different suits sounds great. I know I and others have thought about abilities being in Salmon Run before but didn’t think about it any further than that. Your idea sounds like a great place to start.

Ok the new stage introduction idea is actually really good maybe there would be multiple stages to chose to fight for and who ever chooses it the most and who ever has the most wins will be the stage that gets chosen and the rest will will not be until the next big run splatsville square as the final big run is actually a great idea it could actually affect the story of splatoon depending on how many wins maybe a modified version of it would make it work

After every wave, a selection of 3 perks appears on the screen for each player and they get to pick one of them that stays with them for the rest of the waves. Kind of like a rogue-lite mechanic.

Big Run needs to separate freelance and team leaderboards. It makes so much difference. Even then it’s still extremely luck based. I’m down if they just remove all known occurrences and only keep normal waves to keep it fair.

I'm very new to Splatoon but some of these points are spot on. I was thrown for a loop when the map changed in Salmon Run. When I went to recon the new map, I was kinda shocked that I couldn't. I also agree that we should be able to add abilities to our suits. Maybe we can use our bronze scales since they love to give those so much lol There are many other points I totally agree with but the comment would be crazy long. Great video btw!

Gate defense mode that rotates with regular basket fishing. Company meals that give boosts to stats. Promotion tests in solo mode so that people earn their pay rate. Yellow capsules never stop, they continue same with new gear and the purple capsule.

To add even more rougelike elements to endless, at the start of the effect round (right after voting for effects), you get the choice between 3 weapons chosen from a pool of 33, some being grizzco, majority being base game weapons (maybe 23 or so), and the rest eing special weapons only available in the endless mode, each with their pros and cons

I am the one person who really wants them to bring back the Angry Rain Boots from the second game. They were the only shoes I ever wore, and every month that goes by without them being brought over to 3 it looks less and less likely that they ever will. *S A D*

Here's an idea: Grizzco-Enhanced Specials. It can gives specials like Ink Vac and Tenta Missiles a new coat of paint.

New additions would be great instead of just gear but they also need to bring back the “checkpoints” they had in the old profressional rank. I can’t ever gain experience at higher difficulties. I’ve reached evp 400 5 times and can still barely play at that rank. I can’t improve at all. And it’s super time consuming to get to high ranks too. It‘s so wonky I don’t even get how they released it like this.

I would absolutely adore having abilities in salmon run. Some of the minor struggles I have like a bad weapon or being surrounded by salmon could be easier to think through with abilities. Also, I believe an endless mode would be a perfect solution for the pitiful amount of scales you get normally. How many waves you defeat give higher amount of scales and a better likelihood of gold scales showing up. I would say hitting exeggutive vp 200 once to unlock endless would be a tough, yet fair demand for it. Though I agree this mode does go against the point of how salmon run is played, it sure is nice to dream about.

Oh my gosh, I've been saying "insultingly low" for years (mostly pertaining to the catch rate of legendaries in pokemon go, but also the past 4 months for scale drops in salmon run). It excites me to finally hear someone else say it.

Salmon run just felt rushed in this game, or interest was lost fairly early. It's very fishy that they introduce a whole co-op mode that gives you the same hat every 2 bonuses spread out over 1200p. It just seems like they wanted to wrap the story up and give the art designers something to do so they can work on a new console.

A cool idea for the gear abilities could be ability patches, that you could buy with with scales. You could attach 3 to each gear piece (so nine patches total) and each one would act as a main ability. The abilities that are exclusively main abilities normally would cost higher tier scales (likely silver scales) to buy and only one could be attached per gear set, with the exception of things like tenacity and comeback, which would be three per gear set (no restrictions to where they’re placed, though) ability doubler would be accessible and similar to tenacity and comeback in the way placing it functions, though it would cost golden scales and stack differently. One ability doubler patch would function normally, two patches would instead triple all other abilities, and three would quadruple them. You’d be able to add and remove patches at no cost after purchasing them, and each different color suit would act as a different gear set.

Specials already got buffed in Salmon Run in 2.0 Chill Season 2022 but I can understand wanting them to be a little bit better even after that.

What I want most changed about Salmon Run is Flyfishes getting sent to the Shadow Realm. I'll party all day and night and the next day if they get axed! Also, your voice be smooth af.

You've got the best pitch for an Endless Salmon I've ever seen, and the first one that makes me wish my next sentence weren't true. ...But for the reason you mentioned at the end of the pitch, I just can't see Nintendo adding a mode that takes more than ~10 minutes per match. 15 at a stretch of the Splatoon 'lots of short matches per session' philosophy. The thing aside the obvious 'more content' (mainly maps and kings) one is 'more modes' generally, and Endless would definitely fit in for that, though I don't really have any specifics I'd want for that - BAsically every time a data mine comes out that hints at them playing around with new modes for Salmon Run I get pumped by the prospect. Fishy

id love to see a sub weapon rotation but keeping splat bomb as well :] the left D-pad would pick your splat bomb while pressing the right D-pad would pick the random sub from the rotation. of course not all subs would work in SR but im sure it could be interesting to see which ones they would add or change for it

I kinda like the idea of an endless or endurance mode, it reminds me of cruel melee :). That said it would be more than likely be a laggy mess so it not worth it just yet. Also phishy.

This was a good video! You brought up some good points. However, I’d like to add one. Fixing playing with people of different ranks. Sometimes I play with my dad (who’s a lower rank than me) and I’m not able to progress my rank but I can lose if everyone else does. It just makes it less fun to play when I have no way to prevent my downfall, it’s just chaos.

Tbh I wish that once you get a certain rank in salmon run you get a special slopsuit that matches the one u wear during a shift and YOU CAN PUT ABILTY CHUNKS ON IT so it’s easier or a map that lets you see where the boss salmonoids are you where your teammates are

I hope the Splatoon team will steal your ideas, these all sound great and I can't wait to play them.

The 2 new rare occurrences are so much easier than some of the old ones, like tornado is physically impossible to lose to and mudmouths can be anoying If the summon enough stuff but are still very easy unlike the terror of getting mauled by angry chum in glowflies. Me personally I think also that the small fry have been buffed cause ain’t no way some fish with a plastic spoon would be able to kill me without getting buffed.

i think smokeyard would be a cool comeback especially considering the new egg-throwing abilities. it would be a total game changer since in 2 you had to pray to woomy god that your teammate wouldn't let you fall into the water when you wanna cross!
