Not all exercises are suitable for everyone - there is no ‘one size fits all’ approach. As with any strenuous exercise, you should take into account factors such as your flexibility, strength and overall health to determine if an exercise is appropriate for you, and consult a doctor/physician before beginning a programme of exercise. Discontinue your exercise session immediately if you experience any pain, dizziness or discomfort.
Partaking in training sessions following GCN's video instruction is entirely at your own risk, and Global Cycling Network, its partners and its affiliated companies cannot be held responsible for any injuries which may occur as a result of these exercises.

1. Got a professional bike fit 2. Switched from a 25 to 28 tyre on the front (my bike has really stiff carbon, and the larger front tyre helped to mitigate the vibration) 3. Latex inner tubes ride much better than butyl (I _hate_ tubeless, so don’t get me started…Alex! 😉)

Swimming helps! I was doing a 375 km ride this summer and during training my shoulders were killing me. I got massage twice the week running up, but the day before I woke up totally stiff. So I went to the public pool and did about a km, which was enough to loosen my shoulders!

These videos are absolutely fantastic. They speak to not only older cyclists needing support but also serious riders looking to supplement or broaden their core and holistic training off the bike. Connor rocks!

Would love to see a video on neck pain. As I'm getting older, it's getting more problematic.

Been having shoulder pain on the bike and during exercises for almost 3 years. Stepped up my training this summer and as a result the pain got progressively worse. Turned out that there was calcified lactic acid in the shoulder and a pinched nerve in the neck. Been going through what is called needle therapy which is essentially a small needle being stabbed into the shoulder muscles to break off the calcified lactic acid. These spots are routinely called "trigger points". Along with the needle therapy then I have scaled back my training until the scan shows they are all gone. The physio recommended doing exercises to work on the smaller shoulder muscles and not the large deltoid muscle as that was plenty strong. To work on those then you need to keep your elbows never more than 45 degrees from your body and move your arms outward with an elastic band in between to create resistance. It looks like an exercise for geriatric people but those muscles are often overlooked and therefore aren't quite as strong as the rest of the shoulder.

Very useful stuff. Shoulders and upper back are my weak spot. In the first 45 minutes everything is ok but after that my posture on the bike goes out of the window.

I use SPRI resistance bands and stretch often.Have had rotator cuff surgeries on both shoulder joints, so I make it a point to try and foster better joint health than I did on my youth. Works for me. Great vid, GCN!

For me the old yoga video with Lasty and Matt still does the trick. Manly the teres major and minor tend to cramp. Some good streches now and then help me prevent further problems.

In my case it was a big muscle inflammation. Supplementing NAC helped a lot. Added to it intermittent fasting and everything got well
