it’s either a replacement joystick or if you search up stick drift fix there’s a small module that u solder to the joystick pins which allow you to recalibrate the dead zone and adjust it

It's probably hall effect joystick or something like that which uses magnets to fix stick drift forever allegedly which are very cheap on aliexpress(like 3-5$), you just have to know how to solder and have the right tools. He probably charges at least 25$ for that replacement not including shipping costs and if he doesn't use joysticks which use magnets it's basically a scam because eventually it will stick drift again and so you send them the controller again and they can charge you money again because that's how businesses work. Only a couple of people are good in the industry, myself included. I mean I don't change joysticks but I clean consoles, I mod them, I install windows and optimize it to run as fast as possible. Basically I'm just doing what I would do to my own devices, only the best.

Because they bought it from Walmart when you try to get a replacement from Sony, they say that it's not eligible for refund because it's refund timeframe has expired. The reason for this, Walmart restocks PS5 and Xbox controllers that have already been registered. I've bought two of them that had this issue but I was smart and returned it to Walmart, got my money back and just ordered from Sony. Unfortunately they wouldn't take my Xbox controller back when that happened because I didn't have the receipt and they absolutely refused. It's possible that they tried to return it to Walmart but lost the receipt and Walmart refused.

What they did was just add a little pad behind the joystick. On the board you solder it and it lets you adjust the points on the thumbstick. Thered a couple of brands that sell them. Funny how they try to gatekeep it.

Just change sensor and that’s it no secret sauce 20 bucks gets you like 40 of them and a tool kit to repair on Amazon. Repaired mine after getting drift two months into having my ps5. Don’t let these guys charge you for something you can easily do yourself.

For any controller but joycons, I'd just replace them with hall effect joysticks. For joycons the stick though tiny can be opened on pretty much any controller, clean the internals, and its fixed... for now. All of these potentiometer sticks will eventually get drift and fail again. Cleaning without taking it apart is possible, but less effective. Adjusting the potentiometer works, but it works by increasing the deadzone which can be a problem. For the left stick not such a big deal unless you play like a pro.

Lol. For anyone having issues with ALPS style joysticks drifting, the failure is almost always the wiper or strikeplate. Wiper replacement requires no special tools. Strikeplate requires soldering. "...adjust the potentiometers of the joystick" is a misnomer.

You guys know that damn well they are restricting the end users movement. Also if you're not replacing the analog, the carbon tracks on the potentiometer are still damaged. Fyi

Remember PS2 and original Xbox controllers rarely had issues with drift. Ps2 has something built in to prevent drift. Idk about og Xbox.

My friend fixed the same issue but with the xbox controller change one small thing which is to track ur sticks moves for less then 2 hours and 7 bucks. Nothing really secret it's really easy, just need some tools and part(which is really cheap)

there are some sticks a rest on 0.00002 on both x and y axis on both sticks that i seen and used.

Same thing with my Meta Quest too but worse so I just put a little isopropyl alcohol in the joystick and rub it around and it worked just fine

People that are in this line of business already know what PCB are and how to install them… but the ones that you are hiding this from won’t ever attempt a repair like this most people are scared to even open up their controls just for a simple cleaning 😮

I have 6 of these controllers. 0 stick drift. In fact I don't ever recall having stick drift on any official PlayStation controllers. From every generation.
