Watch how to fix stripped screw holes on your kitchen cabinet doors (and ANY doors with stripped screw holes!)
How to: My first suggestion is what I'd call a "tip." My second suggestion is more of a "hack" to fix those wobbly hinges in the kitchen and around the home.
These 2 tips can work in ANY situation where your screws are no longer able to grip the wood. It's a common problem for kitchen cabinet hinges, but can also be a problem for interior doors, exterior doors, bathroom doors, and furniture doors. Pretty much any doors that get used often and have stripped screw holes.
When the screw holes become stripped, you still have options! Just follow these ridiculously simple tips, and your hinges will be back in tight form within minutes.

Benefit to using the glue is down the road if you're removing that same screw, the glue can help keep the fragmented toothpick together rather than it flaking into pieces in your cabinet.

Awesome tip on the kitchen cabinet loose screw issue, especially the wood glue tip w/ the tooth picks. I have heard of toothpicks earlier before I watched your video, but combined with the wood glue it’s a nice and sturdy combo. I will go get a longer screw if it comes lose again. Thanks again for the very helpful and to the point video.

Unfortunately I cannot use a longer or bigger screw as they are in the direction of outside cabinet. Not sure I would trust the toothpick/glue solution as the material of cabinets is particle board (breaking out some).

Thanks Jason - Great response to nagging little problem. How long do I need to let the glue dry?
@jasongarringer12

Sorry for the delayed response! The glue really only needs to set up slightly. Once the glue starts getting tacky instead of runny, you can replace the screw and the rest will dry later. Thanks for watching!

I have a cabinet where the hinge hole has become very large, and the cabinet is one that sits above the stove. It doesnt have a lot of room to fit a longer screw, without it going out the other side.......and toothpicks, i would have to use a lot of them and it just doesnt look like that will work in this large, but shallow hole. Is it beyond repair? Its almost large enough to fit a small disc shaped piece of wood in, if i glue that in maybe that would work?

I have been told wood filler as well ..It’s off white in colour,it’s like glue but much thicker not runny at all .You put it into a small hole & just flatten it down with your finger let it dry for a while .After that your good to go

How long do you let the toothpicks sit in the hole before trying to drill?
@jasongarringer12
@jasongarringer12 3 жыл бұрын
Maybe 10 to 20 mins at the most. Depends on the glue you use. How fast is the glue “setting up” (drying)? Basically you want the toothpicks to stick in place when you start to drive the screw in the hole.
