Troubleshooting the most flawed Intex accessory! This tutorial shows how to solve all problems: fastening, floating up, debris etc. cheap and easy and how to improve it to keep your filter cartridges cleaner, thus they last longer, saving you money.
In the second part of this video I'll show you how to properly clean your filter and filter pump to get the most out of both.

Your filter motor appears to be about twice as strong as mine. There is no discernable water movement through my skimmer, although the filter sounds like it's running perfectly. There is never any debris in my basket. I just set up the pool a couple of weeks ago, so I don't know what is normal. Do you think something is wrong with my filter?

Intex sells two versions of this pump, about 2200 litre/h and 3400 (a little less than 1000 gallon) litre/h. I have the 3400 litre pump, which is about the minimum requirement for the skimmer according to Intex. I ended up using two strong magnets. I zipped tied on to the bottom of the bracket (inside the pool) and put the other one outside the pool in the same location. Its held the skimmer in place now for two years.

is that any kind of filter ? i really dont know to much about swiming pools !

It sucks in debris and sun tan oil etc. floating on top of the water of which the tiny particles get sucked into the filter. This skimmer needs a pump (and filter) with at least a 1000 gallon per hour capacity.

Can you share a link to the screen that you installed on the floating basket? Also, is that a frame mounted table that I see??

Any fine mesh will do, I just used a piece of fabric that I had laying around. The table is an old Intex accessory someone gave to me. Never saw them before, or after. I guess it's 20 years old by now, maybe even older.

I have no clue where the tray came from. I bought it used and had to cut away some plastic so that it fitted my metal frame pool. it is made by Intex.

I love the video you are too nice to these people who are complaining. So the foam is simple weatherstripping for windows or doors find any hardware or Walmart by door knobs etc cheap easy to find n all comes w remove backing to peel n stick. Question to you is have you noticed any issues where the skimmer is pushing air into the pump? I have to bleed the air from my pump every 10 min have 2500 gph intex cartridge pump. I tried changing positions and add weights even adding clamps to ends of hose checked hose for leaks didn’t find any and is new. It works it makes the little tornado inside but something can’t b right my pump sounds like it is dying in agony when I hook this up. Once I remove it is fine so nothing n my hose to filter pump I have no clue someone mention tighten screws under neath where the foam flaps are. Did that too. I know it can’t b my pump is too strong but I do have one suction plugged off not n use and the pump is powerful enough to make my motion sensor light on porch stay on. Any ideas are appreciated and I’m going to get my weatherstrip foam from my closet right now! Lol maybe that is the prob I did try cut pool noodles for better fit but was too pliable. Just pushed the indentation of nuts right into it.

It could be that with your powerful pump the skimmer is mounted too close to the watersurface. I have installed a thru wall skimmer this season and I noticed that the pump is creating a vortex which sucks in air when the water level is a bit low. Maybe you are experiencing the same. In my case raising the water level solved the issue.

It should be sucking way more water than that if you have 2 outlets close one off then it will have the cyclone action that or you need a better pump, then it will work better.

In this setup I used a 1000gph pump on a 1500 gallon pool, with no other attachments, which was more than sufficient. My current setup has a thru wall skimmer, a chlorine feeder and solar mats, so a larger pump was needed.

I still don't know, it's insulation foam tape. Should be available by home depots I guess.

It’s weather strip foam you can get any hardware or even Walmart by the window and door hardware. It comes in several diff width and thickness also diff colors white black brown. Lots of diff brands and is super cheap. I got 10 bags when Fred’s had it on clearance 75 cent a bag for widest thickest kind lol. Google weather stripping its cheap easy to find and must work. It will have the removable backing that is self adhesive like his as well hope that helps

@@robplant5576 Well at least it doesn;t start to float above the waterline, destroying your pump because it is sucking air in. So what is the problem your skimmer has? Feel free to ask any question.

Use skimmer socks in your basket and all that small stuff will be taken care of.

You did fine they can turn up the volume at least you took the time to try and help others!! Not to mention its a video n shows what you did. To me is common sense ok weather strip foam. Cool sure. Alright skimmer sock on the basket oh n obvious he mounted it on top area n once foam in place it didn’t move as he shook it hard. Hello they can see with their eyes if not then get an app to translate video into words to read out loud. I love the video as I’ve had a lot of prob with my skimmer.
