How to fix 'insert franchise here' needs to be a series

I actually really enjoyed Predators - loved the fact they had this small cast of characters basically having to figure shit out on this mysterious alien planet. Would have loved to have seen development to that particular storyline, as in a sequel or prequel.

I would love a movie like the Aliens vs Predator 2 game from 2001. Aliens take over a colony and the marines are called in only to encounter a group of predators on the hunt for xenomorphs and all three fight it out. Make it an action-horror movie like Dog Soldiers.

A Predator film with 2 leads, one human and one predator. Both similiar missions and both cross paths multiple times. A futuristic time comparable to Alien, with space travel being a thing already. It doesn't have to be on Earth, maybe the humans are following the Predators or more likely the other way around. Or have an ancient gladiator arena fight with a Predator being captured and chained and forced to fight, but that might be difficult to do as a movie.

While I don't agree with your views on the new movie yet, I loved your pitch! That would be a great movie, but I would also like to see a Predator movie in the past like around WW1 or WW2 as well.

Good Start Mr. H. Disagree with some items but the general idea of setting it in the future would be great. As far as filming goes, get George Miller to direct it and you'll have what could "spiritually" be called "Mad Max Meets The Predator". I'd see that movie.

I think your right they hire folks that really don't understand the franchise, but above all else they just don't have a creative mindset. For all its flaws and as much as people railed on it, the 1st AvP movie was a pretty good film, its main flaw was the PG13 rating that hurt it and the odd choice of using Antarctica in modern day, but Paul Anderson really did understand the lore and the fluff behind the two franchises, he understood that CGI was a bad choice for so much of the film and used a lot of old practical effects that still hold up today. What the franchise needs is someone like that, I disagree with adding so much to the budgets of these films as well, it was the lack of a budget that forces these directors to use their creative skills to accomplish making a movie, large budgets IMO just make a director lazy BC they can cop out on things. CGI has also become a crutch for all film making these days and if you go back and look at the OG Star Wars, Alien, AvP, and Predator films, most of those effects still look good today, except Alien 3, regardless of how much I did like it, the Alien looked like ass bags in that movie.... I liked your idea and pitch and the idea that these creatures are from a desert planet works also, why does it have to be one planet hell with the tech these bastards have the idea that they inhabit multiple worlds wouldn't be far fetched either. If you ask me its time they start pulling from the comics TBH, there is so much fluff and lore there now its unreal. The comics were able to easily merry the Alien franchise into it and personally I'm still angry these morons still never considered telling Machiko's story. However, I have one question of you, why do we have to have a human aspect in the film, if we want to focus on the Preds, that can easily be done in many different ways, from using subtitles to even having the creatures speak English, this could honestly add more to the fluff as it would explore how these creatures communicate with each other. Also, if we need the human aspect then how about using the Human Hunter idea, why not tell a story about a single human raised or trained by the preds in their ways, if done well enough you can skip an origin and maybe save the origin for the next film. Love this plot outline! The story would actually create some audience sympathy for the Predators because they would be outgunned by the Marines. The Predators would simply be defending themselves against the invaders.

Additional idea for the end of this theoretical movie: The predators kill the last space marine, and just as the final blow is struck, a hunting party of super predators is seen approaching over top of a rocky outcropping in the distance. The predator who killed the last space marine looks at the super predators, looks back at the dead space marine, and picks up the space marines rifle, and reloads it. For context, earlier in the movie the predators are initially cut down easily by the foreign technology of firearms, but quickly learn to bait the humans into wasting ammo and then striking en masse while the humans reload. The humans and predators constantly developing new strategies against each other could be a massive selling point for fans.

Awesome pitch Mr. H! I'm sold! This makes sense financially considering past Predator film budgets. The Predator storylines need to be set in the future with a human element for dialog and progession purposes. Make this happen Cox studios! Great video my friend. Keep up the good work.

I personally would rather see the Predator in the past. Before you say we already had it "Predator: Dark Ages" (Awesome fan film and I know you Mr. H are a fan as well). Pick a different time period where the definition of what a man is has changed through out history whether it be a Viking, a Samurai, a Confederate Soldier during the Civil War (comic book version of hell come a walkin), and hell even the Roswell, New Mexico space craft landing conspiracy would be a great pitch too. Again, these are just my opinions as well. I think it is too early to have the Predators be in space unless it gravitates us humans to that point as you said "You have to have humans in the movie"

Sounds badass. I really like the idea of the predators being without tech. The whole premise is good. Nice, simple story with balls out action, characters that are memorable and an antagonist that everyone loves to see in action. Just like the original.

I like where you're going with this, I like where the story starts in the future very much. I just think that there needs to be a way for the Predators to still have their technology. Let it be battered, let it be broken, let it be barely functional and only a few things. One Predator could have the helmet, another the caster, another the whip and so on. Their technology adds to the thrill of the movie in my opinion.

This was exactly my idea as well. My idea had a Weyland-Yutani Security force escorting a Research team searching for a new planet to colonize (a la Alien: Covenant). They stumble upon Yautja Prime. They're hunted down and by the end of the film, only two survivors escape: A Synthetic whose gotten access to Yautja database and understands their language and a human scientist. They escape in a small Yautja hunting ship and set up a distress signal for the nearest Human military installation (unbeknownst to the human scientist, the synthetic actually put the coordinates for Xenomorph prime). Hence, in the sequel, a hunting party follows the escaped ship to xenomorph prime and Colonial Marines are led there. And so, AVP begins.

I love your idea of putting it in the future on a destroyed Predator home world. Or how about this; I'd put it on an abandoned Predator outpost or colony world, with their home world lost to memory (even for the Predators). They come across as nomadic anyway, so it wouldn't be far fetched that even they have no clue where it is. You can then save its discovery for a sequel if you want. But you're absolutely right that it should never be shown as a living world (AvP2 didn't happen). It will only disappoint. And I love stories where a crew has to explore the ruined remains of some long gone alien society.

I love the way you set that up. It definitely needs to be in the future. And that subversion technique brings in the mystery, darkness and intrigue. The problem with these films now is that they’re not DARK enough. We see too much of the Creatures and that takes the SSS-Spine Shuddering Scariness out of the films.

I have an idea for fixing the Predator franchise, no reboots involved. Open the film on Yautja Prime, where we see the Upgrade Predator’s clan has been captured by Soldier and Enforcer classes of Yautja, shackled and being carted off for execution. However, one of these hybrids (not 10 ft. tall btw) gets a gander at one of the elite Predators and begins to have ideas of vengeance and breaks out. Being a rogue on the loose, this hybrid goes on a killing spree. This would basically be almost an adaptation of Predator: Bad Blood. Seeing that this hybrid is a rogue, the Elite Predator, along with 2 other veteran Predators, from the start of the film sets off by order of the Clan Leader with orders to hunt down the rogue. However, these Predators also want opportunities to prove themselves by not only hunting the rogue, but also hunting the humans as well.

Preds without their fancy tech is a great idea. Honestly things like invisibility and plasmaguns often make them look like cowards. Which is fine when they are antagonists I guess but they are supposed to have culture built around proving yourself against hard opposition.

Amazing, just amazing story! I was so immersive i didn't realize you were telling a story, my mind was seeing it like a movie and sounded amazing. One little change to the end will be amazing so it will be more satisfied for everyone, instead of killing everyone we could do it this way. "When the last marines, "soldiers" have the last stand and the predators got they ship and so on, every human will die except the main charact, and instead of killing him he survives but he stays behind, he is then all alone in the deserted planet when the predators just went away with the ship and he realizes that he as good as dead." At the last frame, could be a close up to his face as we see the desperation on his face, letting us wonder what will happen to him, maybe he died maybe he finds a way to get off the planet. And to make it better, he indeed survives but the predators don't know about it, so he could have been wounded but indeed NOT dead. Just a theory i founded could make it more intense, than just everyone dying in the last stand, like boom dead. Tell me what you think about it, just curious of your opinion if u have the time.

Wait a minute now, if you wanna talk era of movie settings, let's not forget that the Yautju has been coming to Earth for Centuries... They could've made a Predator movie back in the King Tut/ Cleopatra era in reference to what we saw in the AVP flash back scene... Or how about a Predator movie in the western era of the old west... It's just some much that they haven't even attempted to tap into... Now here's my favorite one out of all of them, and I'll go ahead and tell you it's been done in the comics already... But let's see that 1776 pirate movie of the Predator that lead up to the gun by Raphael Aldophal or whatever his name was on that pistol... Interesting idea and concept Mr H but would add one addition to your story idea. Humans lose on the surface but in space the ship they comes from notes the loss of that group and leaves but before they go they drop a package which destroys all life on the planet. They hyper jump away and as the screen fades to black a voice over from the commander on the ship states "Humans hate to lose" The End. Perfect film and well done Mr H

I can't lie, your idea of a predator movie sounds better than the one we're getting.

I always wanted to see a scenario in which a Serial Killer is operating in a war torn environment (using the carnage to hide his own). Everything's working beautifully and he's operating with impunity... Until he garners the attention of a more deadly Predator.

Mr H you hit it right on the head. I completely agree with your idea and, as a huge Predator fan, wish they would put someone in charge who understood the series.

FWIW, here is my counter argument to your idea Mr H! Just like your pitch, this argument against it is only my opinion but - hear me out! Predator was a movie about tough guys realising that they are out matched. Each deal with it in different ways. Dillon almost denies it, MAC seems to lose his mind a little, Blain is all guns blazing but totally ineffective, Billy accepts his fate - it's only Dutch who relies on instinct and training to try and fight back in a meaningful way, and only then in the final act. The Predator itself is a fascinating creature, but the mystery of it's origin is a major strength. Why is it here? what does it want? what's under that mask? The mask removal reveal is epic because it is shocking and simply poses more questions. What is it? what's with those jaws? The moment we start answering these questions, the creature loses it's power as an antagonist (I'm looking at you ridley) so I have to question - do we really want a movie set in space in the future on the predator homeworld? Do we need to see the aftermath of their civil war, learn their customs, and feel empathy with them? No. The Predator must be unknowable, inscrutable, deadly and relentless. It's technology, appearance and behaviour should hint of a strange culture, an advanced race: but it should never explain it. Because then we will understand it. And if we understand it, we will not need to fear it.

I love your ideas and I hope we can see something like this in the next predator film.

Mr. H your story is amazing, it finally fills in gaps in a predator movie but also leaves a mystery for the viewers like you like said. Your also right about letting the predators actually win in a film, a movie is only good as its villain.

Pretty solid plot, man. I really love the idea that the predator homeworld is a post-apocalyptic wasteland. That's a brilliant idea, and it makes sense! I could see your hypothetical movie being similar in scope to the third Riddick movie, that was rather low budget for a major film, yet it definitely managed to deliver an alien planet and plenty of fun. Toss in a few no-name actors with decent acting chops and don't skimp on the creature effects and I think you'd have a winner for sure.

I posted on a Predator forum a few years back an idea for a film. Had the idea of having it set in the past... maybe WW1 or WW2. Ultimately though actually having The Predator come out on top. Definitely need to see them killing everyone off and just demonstrating how good they actually are. Especially as none of the survivors ever actually have any involvement in films that follow anyway.

I love it man! End of movie. After the tribal predators win against the marines, the marines send a help beacon back to earth. Right as this happens the sect of predators that left the planet during the predator wars that still have their technology loom above in a returning dropship to finish the job and retake the planet. The sequel would be an all out three way war between the two sects of predators, the tech predators (with way less numbers) and the tribals with humans coming to answer the help beacon getting stuck in between. I think this sequel could end with some type of armistise with the predators as they join to fight the humans, banding both predator cultures together with traits from both sides with the two predator leaders joining and pulling both cultures together. They re-establish the planet as they plan to go to earth for a fun vacation of eradication!

You gotta add the super predators and how many are left on the planet into your plot and I'd go see it! Good video

All seriousness though I agree the predator stories since the original haven’t been given the time and nurture needed to make them just as popular as Aliens for example. In order to right this you have to do something different and your pitch is one great idea! I wish the studios had taken the time to reference the AvP Dark Hoarse comic and made that instead of the two piles of shit they went for in the end! The look of the predator post predator 2 just isn’t right with the HUGE heads! If movie studios want these type of genres to flourish they need to start employing people who’s love for it will guarantee success and not the shit we’ve been served for so long! Predator 2 is the only Predator movie I can watch on a loop. I unfortunately had Predators on a loop the first time I saw it because I lost my remote when I was kicking an opiate addiction. Some movie channel played it for 24 hours. If I never see Adrien Brody again, it'll be too soon

There has never been a better Predator story (other than the original movie) than the one told in the Predator Concrete Jungle game. You'd need to remove the level with the Aliens as that is a bit naff, but there you go, job done. Best depiction of the Predator ever told.

I love your idea Mr H. It's a great way to expand the mythology without overkilling it. Your idea sounds 1000 times better than the story we got in AVPR.

How to fix things? - Shoot on film/anamorphic. - Hard R rating done with practical FX like the first two. - Better cinematographers of Donald McAlpine's talent. - No kids in a major role. - Less pretty boy actors. We need a manly faced lead actor who's a little bit older. - Less hot women. I don't see these movies to be turned on. - Have Alan Silvestri do the score. - Legacy FX doing the predator FX. - Don't make hyrbid predators or stupid 10ft tall preds. Keep them like in the first two, just with updated tech. I'm not suggesting Arnold, because I think we can have great movies without him, however, I'd love to see him return as Dutch in a supporting role.
