What a great idea! I have 2 adaptors with frayed cords right before it goes into the transformer case and was thinking I’d have to throw them away. Just curious why you use 2 layers of heat shrink tubing for each wire? Extra protection when soldering or helps add extra strain relief? Thanks so much for posting this!

ok so that ferrite bead is on there for a reason, probably better to not remove. Just fixed mine. The inner positive wire insulation breaks and then touches the outer negative wire. That looks like a shield or support all around the positive. Electrical tape the positive then join the messed up negative with solder or maybe can just crush it together with a generous amount of electrical tape not duct tape.

Better not to remove the filter because you could end up wasting a lot of time chasing intermittent computer problems due to the noise or have noise in something else because of the noise broadcasted by your power supply.

Why not open the 4 screws on the board and solder the end tire new cord on to the board they literally say + and - red black or black with white stripe hot/power negative just solid black like always 100 times faster tacking to Ends in to the holes that still has the exact amount left in it then your not on the very tip, where it takes the most force or most likely going to break again you could’ve got more strength, putting in the center of the cord at least solder it to the board and then you clamp the whole entire plastic piece down and the wire never gets tugged on obviously why they’re designed like that and did I mention it’s 10 times faster 2 wires versus 4 ends of four wires together end the weakest point of the cord (probably why it’s broke in the first place right? )
