certainly not me. my switch died whilst playing a game and wont turn on. charged it over night on miniature dock on my desk and then the official dock while i was at school so 8 hours. wont turn on, ive watched like 50 videos and nothing is wrong with my switch.

My switch appeared to be dead while I was on vacation. I think it overheated and powered off in my bag, but that was a fun panic attack. A 12 second hard reset worked to my relief.

Dude tell us not to fix our switch ourselves lol. Yeah money doesn't grow on trees bud and I took a home course on electronic engineering. Sure I didn't get a degree but I know how to fix electronics now and how to solder. WTF do we even need college anymore? Just have jobs give tests.... we can look everything up on the internet and even set up our own hands on assignments with our own electronics since we have to many lying around these days. College especially the Ivy league ones are just clubs for rich and smart people who wish to turn into douche bags. I'm watching this video a long with many others to see if the solution I used which was unplugging the battery from the mainboard and then plugging it back in was in the video.

The video is a year old, but it’s still up because it still helps! My switch wouldn’t charge using the official Nintendo usbc connection but has 15% battery left. I followed along and did a reset, then an actual hard reset- while I did that I left the charger disconnected as mentioned as well- and it’s back to life! Thanks!

I just wanna say thank you so much I literally bought this switch like two months ago and I was like it can’t be the adapter or plug…I was seriously stressed out and was like there is no way I spent $300 and all those games to just not let it work. Tried to leave it alone and charge solo from dock using just the switch and charged adapter for like 4 hours nothing…no sign of life. Went to your video. 15-20 second holding down the power button and then press it once to power on omg…I seen the Nintendo logo pop up…tears of joy! I love you and thank you for this video. 5:08 - If your Switch is out of warranty and/or you're confident with electrical repairs and/or you're totally bonkers, unplug the cable, remove the backplate and heat shielding, disconnect the battery, then hold down the power button for 20 seconds before putting everything back together again and re-attempting to recharge. I had to repair someone's Switch that had been left in a drawer for months and this did the trick.

Tried all those things on my Gray Switch Lite. Total use time on that switch was maybe 10 hours in total. Tried all those things Several times. No luck and Nintendo Repairs division is closed down until further notice. So I have a very pretty gray paperweight. (Until further notice)

This video saved me from buying a new switch. I had mine plugged up all night playing KZfaq and I woke up and it was off completely. Wouldn’t charge or show that it was charging and I thought it broke or something. I gave up trying to fix it after an hour but then I stumbled across this video. I stopped at the hard reset, idk if any other steps works but I can confirm the hard reset worked for mine!! Hopefully you guys can resolve your problems!

To ecko so many others, this saved us from buying a new switch and earned me wife points! My husband and I were about to play a new game but it wouldn't charge. Then we realized we hadn't turned the switch on in 19 months. After watching, we realized we weren't using the official charger. The hard reset will be the most likely fix for this just hold down for 12 secs then press power button again it’ll turn on this problem seems to happen if you don’t charge your switch for a long time and leave it dead for a while which is what I did to mines

@Lewis Boss ya! So what I do is I hold the power button for 12 secs and then press it to turn it on. Then it shows The Nintendo logo and then after it goes away press the volume button and the power button at the same time for 12 secs again. (Make sure it has been plugged in the whole time) then flip the charger over. Then it should show the actual NINTENDO SWITCH logo. If this doesn’t work then try it again. Sometimes I have to do it in a different order if it doesn’t work. I hope this helps.

My switches screen first went black, but I still heard the fan. Then, it would show nothing but the charging symbol- not being out of battery, but charging, because I always have to play games with it on a charger, and an occasional Nintendo logo. I am currently panicking in my room because I literally have no idea what to do.

My switch won't turn on but it's charging I hope it turns on😭 It never turned on 😭

Yep. 15 seconds hard reset worked. Held power for 20 seconds while charging with official charger, then let go for a second and then just pushed power button. Turned on the same second. It had 9% tho. Not sure why it couldn’t turn on without reset. Anyway just left some info for future viewers who go to comments 4 the details. Good luck

Try the hard reset. Mine was a complete black screen with no charging sign and the hard reset worked. Turns out my switch was charged perfectly fine, it was just glitched

My sons' Nintendo switch lite would not switch on .We tried the reset procedure . We had a new Nintendo switch charger and charging port looked fine. tried everything over five days no sign of life no charging symbol on the screen when plugged in . decided to leave unplugged for two days . then plugged in left on charge after 10 mins it lit up and is now working just fine .

So I was playing my switch today (it was docked and I was playing on the TV) and it just cut off out of the blue and won't turn back on I tried hard resetting it and even factory resetting it and that didn't work I've done every possible thing to try and get it to work and still nothing and it sucks because I can't send it in to get fixed due to covid-19

The thing charges but while its still plugged in and its turned on for 3 seconds it dies right after and no the power adapter is not damaged and it charged for 3 hours

OMG THANKS SO MUCH I was literally panicking because my switch was not turning on and when I plugged it in nothing happened and then I found this my dad was literally abt to throw it away cuz we all thought it was broke this litterally saved my switch and a lot of money I can’t thank you enough we could have thrown away a perfectly good switch!!! I am so relieved 😅

I haven't played my switch in months so I put it on charge for a week because I remember this happing to me with a ds but it still doesn't turn on, when it's on charge it flashes the power icon and it's fully charged and when I try to turn it on it shows the the Nintendo logo then it's gone, can anyone help?

This is also happening to me right now. It had already happened 2 years ago, but back then it fixed itself (no idea how), I left it alone for a couple of weeks and when I came back, charged it and tried to turn it on, it worked. This time, I've left it charging for the last 3 days and still nothing. Just shows the Nintendo logo for 2 or 3 seconds and shuts down.

@@MechPrime mine seems to have the same problem, I've put it on charge and no charging symbol comes on🤔 it lights up for 2 sec then off, nothing wrong with charger as phone works on it, hard reset does nothing? Not good. Did you get anywhere with yours??

@@antony29 Nope, still no luck with it yet. I've been away for a couple of days and put it on the charger again today, I'm going to try to leave it there for a day or two to see if it does anything. I'd hate to have to send it for repairs like this, I have some save data on Animal Crossing that isn't backed up, I really hope I can bring my Switch back from the dead at least once to get this sorted out.

My brother gave me his switch, but it was hacked. So I told him to unhack it for me and he did. I reseted it and it died and won’t turn on. Hopefully one of these options help

Was the hack software only? or did he solder components to the board to boot into recovery?

Zane Blalock I have no idea. It was from his computer to the switch. Even when it was hacked it had to be rebooted to turn on. And I tried to reboot it now that it wasn’t hacked and it won’t work

Great video. I used the hold the power button down for 15 seconds plus the one tap after and it worked like a charm. My switch was at 100% and just wasn't giving any indication of turning on or displaying charging. Thank you!

My son's Switch had this problem - I just tapped the Switch as shown and it worked - amazing !!! I expect at some point we will need to send it away but working now so thanks :)
