Dr. Dray: I am a mature woman who is a MBC survivor and have done a clean sweep of my personal care to only using VaniCream products. I was a minimal cosmetic user and ditched everything there, too. You would be doing a huge service if you would consider doing a video addressing basic organic makeup ( Foundation, mascara, lipstick and eyeshadow) that costs $20 or less so that when Cancer folks want to feel a bit prettier we know we are not hurting ourselves. Would you consider steering us in the right direction? Physician's Formula has a new organic line that is inexpensive...but is it good? Honest Beauty is reasonable...but is it good? THANKS

You saved my skin about a month ago. I had been taking hair gummies that were high in biotin and my skin began reacting horribly to everything, starting with my lips and spreading all over my face. My skin barrier had been destroyed, just like you explained due to the high amount of biotin. I quit the gummies and the itchy and intolerable red, sappy skin is cured.

How were your lips reacting? Because I'm starting to have this strange reaction on my lips and this "incurable" phase of breakouts. I'm wondering if that's part of the problem.
@jungerman3545
@jungerman3545 3 жыл бұрын
@@BC-jy6jh so I’ve been taking these supplements for over a year - two different brands - and it began slowly. First just just some redness and swelling of my lips, until it progressively got worse and entailed the area around my mouth and the pain and itching became unbearable especially when I applied any type of skin-care. At first it was the salicylic acid and sunscreen and then it was anything... even my French thermal spring-water products, aloe, and those products that are used to restore the lipid barrier. I couldn’t even use cover-up and the itching was so relentless I took Benadryl. Then I saw Dr. Dray’s video on the biotin supplements, I stopped the gummies, and within a week my problem that had been getting progressively worse over a year completely relented. She said - and I’m paraphrasing - that biotin competes for the same receptors as other nutrients that maintain your skin barrier and can displace them completely which is what happened to me. I mean she is a life-saver. I had thought it was simply the mix of products I was using but I’m still using them and no problems now. You have to watch the supplements, or at least I do.

Love this topic. Thank you for this video. I wash my face once a day at night before moisturizing. If my skin gets really bad sometimes I’ll just do nothing and leave it alone for a day or two. I can say for sure that the very first time rosacea showed up on my face I was having really bad intestinal issues and my gut microbiome was definitely imbalanced. I had a glass of limeade, felt a terrible heartburn like feeling and for the first time rosacea showed up within 24 hours, then progressed over the following 2 years as rosacea does. The 2nd time it was hot peppers that caused the flare up. I can’t even look at anything overly acidic with lime anymore, foods that are overly spicy, etc. I know that it’s very important for me to get my intestinal flora imbalance under control. It’s been difficult cause I’ve fallen into some terrible eating habits again after living with somebody who eats awful but, personally, my body screams out for healthy foods 24/7. Maybe getting that 100% on track will do a lot of good for my skin as I know it will for my overall health. Planting a bunch of cold weather kale in my garden and sticking to just saying no to joining in on other’s harmful eating habits.

Aryuvedic medicine is mostly nonsense. Its not going to treat actual disease, and many aryuvedic herbal products contain arsenic and lead. But herbs can and do have useful compounds, but in herbal form its dose whacky and hard to use, potentially dangerous, and its often nonsense.

@@user-tb5fc6yr7o I agree and disagree. I've an autoimmune condition and I do not use ayurvedic medicine for my condition right now. I did for almost everything before and there are some major illness that can be treated by it like ulcer, and some cancer. But the thing is I'm from Nepal where I used to have the access and resources to actually ayurvedic doctors and medicine that are certified and not a concussion of crap. Definitely right to be weary of online herbal products though.

@@shreeyasingh8948 The thought behind it, that clean foods and herbs can be good to maintain health, is good. Especially in western countries where we get too little of this. But I would never use it to treat cancer og a stomach ulcer (stomach ulcers are caused by helicobacter and it can cause cancer if not treated properly). Herbs do have active ingredients, and modern medicine is often based on extracts and modified compounds from herbs, but it goes through a rigorous testing process and is sometimes modified to make it safer and more effective. For example salicylic acid, aspirin is a modified form made safer and more effective and more predictable. If there is no other medicine available, herbs can sometimes make sense to use, but its generally much inferior and less safe to what we can make in modern medicine. And I agree, stay away from online medicine. You never know what you get.

I agree. Personally I have treated my mouth ulcers which is one of the reoccurring symptoms of my auto immune condition. Also not herbs are the same. I'm not talking about rosemary, ginger or garlic or any other spices you guys probably think about when you think of herb. Tbh we're both two people in a dark room trying to find our way. I am greatly offended by categorization of something you don't have knowledge of. Mind you I watch dr dray and like she says natural does not mean good and artificially created ingredients does not mean bad. But that's coming from a doctor where as you are stereotyping.

I'm not a dermatologist but I've been going through this too. My advice from experience and what I've learned is to reduce the amount of products you use, don't exfoliate, use sunscreen everyday, use less to no makeup, and use very gentle cleansers and moisturizers. I use colloidal oatmeal water to wash my face after the oil cleanser, then use vaseline. I don't think there's a magical fix to the compromised skin barrier. You just need to aggravate it less, preserve it and let it slowly heal on its own. It takes time(at least a several months of gentle care)

(I’m wondering about benzoyl peroxide…) Are there any new developments in this area since you did this video? What do you think about the product Lumiara? Is it unnecessary? Can you do a review on their product line?

The source of where so much disease in the body originates is the break down in the gut. The general public doesn’t really focus on it and it is arguably the most important factor to ones overall health. Fantastic video today! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I could justify the use of a shower caddy to hold Olipop being I’m bald and need no shampoo! 👍🏻

Hi Dr. Dray. Sorry if I am out of topic today but my beloved 10 year old rabbit died at the hands of a vet 5 hours ago. She is the one I always comment here that if times comes , I dont know how to survive... Last night .my rabbit is breathing fast and seems to have mucus. She ate well poo good in size. So morning cones I travel to the vet ( not our regular vet because we mived from Madri to the boundary of Spain/ France ) and told them that my rabbit is having breathing problem. They made us wait for almost 30 mins. And never give my bunny oxygen. Then the bet came and did heart rate pulse and physical exam. My rabbit is so scared and cant breathe , the vet stop her from moving but my rabbit kept on trying to get away. My rabbit screamed for the 1st time I heard any sound from her. After 3 screams the vet let her go but she fell inconscious and thats the time the vet gaave her oxygen. Too late in my opinion. I cant believe shes gone I cried so hard and the other staff offered me a small.rabbit if incase I want to adopt. I am out of my self so I dont understand whatever they're saying...all I want is my beloved bunny...she kissed me this morning before we went to the vet....I am so shattered now up to my soul I am so broken....

So I’m pretty sure I got fungal acne from my boyfriends beard after a few months of dating, he would get this rash around his beard which was super itchy, and then all of a sudden my face broke out in all these baby pimples. It took ages for me to figure out how to treat it and also what caused it.

🔹This is a bit overly detailed thought process but I've always wondered how ppl kiss on the lips despite the beards since it feels like it d b more comfortable without beard/moustache hair getting in the way/touching your face. 🔹i can understand a bit of stubble thats not too long/too medium to be scratchy when your cheek touches someones face affectionately. 🔹i asked the ppl who prefer beards but they dont always get it.. Imo if you dont like shaving, having facial hair trimmed to either lowest length that it isnt too scruffy/slightly longer that its soft but doesn't make a beard/get in the way gives a much better look especially if you know how to pick peard styles. 🔹& i c ppl have a habit to touch their cheeks together side by side when it comes to even platonic relationships/taking selfies.but its harder to do with beards. Of course you can still get fungal infection if the other person has it even if they dont have a beard. 🔹but since beard doesn't get cleaned as often its more likely clog for ppls pores that touch yours cheeks with their faces etc. 🔹 So i feel like so much of affection is lost there (not that you still cant love ppl tho but just saying). 🔹plus going beardless makes ppl look younger tho if you dont have wrinkles. If you're old & have wrinkles it makes you look younger as beard hides em.
@Elliecharlie

@@kizryuver It's 100% personal preference. I personally don't mind anything if it's clean and looked after. What actually scratches my face the most is stubble. Beards are mostly really soft and don't irritate skin. Anyone can have fungal acne or something similar on their face, and it's usually pretty easy to treat. Fuller/thicker beards should use antidandruff shampoo in the shower. Once they are out of the shower and their skin is dry, they should apply antifungal cream. Someone who doesn't have facial hair should just use antifungal cream. Some people suit beards, and other don’t. It’s just not as simple as it makes someone look younger vs older.
