No you don't have to turn the brush off and on on the model you have is the same as mine just clear the blockage and turn the unit on and it should work I tried your process it can break the machine it broke my last one

I didn't mean mine was the one that broke it it was youre's it made the button smash its only ment to be pressed once not multiple times

MINE DOES HAVE A RESET BUTTON !! - but it is next to the Power On/Off button on the upright column and is marked with a kind of 'lightning' embossment. Once you have cleared the Brushbar of any hairs/debris etc start it up and press that reset button. The light near the Brushbar will come on Green and all is well again !!

Although it's probably a bit late for you now, I'll post this here in case anyone has the same issue. If you have the brush roller activation switch next to the on/off switch (with two arrows, similar to a 'recycle' symbol) then the fault could be the microswitch situated under the purple cover. 1. Turn the power off, take out the entire dust collection assembly to access the two phillips screws just in front of the on/off switch. Remove these screws. 2. Slide the entire handle out of the vacuum cleaner by pressing down the purple adjuster. Place it to one side. 3. Next remove the purple handle adjuster by prising it away at each side using a thin screwdriver. 4. Carefully prise up the purple on/off switch cover with a thin screwdriver and place to one side. 5. Remove the single screw located under this cover securing the gray switch cover. 6. You should now be able to prise the gray switch cover up and away to expose two brown/red microswitches next to the on/off button. Use a small, electricians screwdriver all around the edges to carefully ease the cover up and away from the top of the vacuum. 7. Locate the foremost of these two microswitches. This is the the brush roller operating switch and sends power down to a circuit board just near the brush roller. Inside this microswitch is a spring loaded 'seasaw' that stays down every other press. With mine this had simply dislodged. 8. Very carefully prise open this brown microswitch at each side and lift off the top button assembly including spring and metal 'seasaw' contacts (very slowly so as not to lose the spring). 9. Check/clean/adjust/repair the connections of this switch or bypass it temporarily to prove the fault. 10. Reassemble in reverse order. Note - there is also a fuse soldered onto the circuit board just down near the roller assembly. If this has blown it can cause the same symptoms, but mine was fine.

I don't know if this helps whatsoever, but I came to this video because the brush wasn't working. Anyway it wasn't the reset button that fixed it, but by pressing the button next to "on". This button has two arrows in forming a circle. I pressed that and suddenly the brush worked and the green light came on. I don't know if yours has that button but I suppose if it does its worth a try. I got given the hoover second hand so not really played about with any other buttons. Otherwise I hope you find your answer. My hoover is like the one in the video an old one

+beanyrat No, eventually I managed to do everything I needed to without removing them. I just cleaned the brush roll in situ.

+Mark Sherwen +VacuumSpot I have the same problem - broken belt. I can see that the two screws behind the top of each wheel have to come out. Did you find a way of getting them out, or removing the wheels? I have ordered the spare belt - that was the easy part, so it must be possible to fit it! Any help gratefully received. :-)

+Mark Sherwen Thanks anyway, Mark. I have managed to open the case enough to pull out the old belt and extract the brush roller. I think there is just enough room to squeeze a new belt past the motor drive and then onto the brushes. New belt on order from BuySpares! Cheers.

Did you manage to find a fix? Reset on mine is isn't working too

+claire goodlet same, here, but then after a little while it starts making a flapping noise, then the motor died

Mine was doing this, probably not much help now but if anyone else has this issue: I unplugged the hose at the bottom which sucks stuff from the roller brush, it was clogged quite badly, the bit before it enters the hose not the hose itself. After unclogging the noise out of the little hole at the top went away.

unscrew beater bar and take it right out. Belt slips on over the end. reassemble
