Incase your truck or Jeep doesn't have factory threaded mounting locations or a threaded location has been damaged like on this Ram, here is a solution!
This example is being shown on a 2016 Ram 1500 Quad Cab.

Where did you get the mounting bracket ? My 2012 RAM has experienced the same thing.

The bracket shown in the video was actually from an old set of running boards that I had to repurpose for this issue. If you have the RBP power running boards, they have a bracket that comes with it, but you would have to remove the second welded nut so it can lay flat inside the frame rail. Or could possibly cut the tab off the provided bracket and use it in a similar way as shown. Without knowing what you have available, those are my best suggestions. Whatever you do, be sure not to lose/drop it in the frame... could be impossible to get out.

What would you call that mounting bracket? I need that but don’t know what to look for.

The one I used is a Nut and Retainer. Hex Flange Locking. In my search, one for a jeep is the most similar except it is 2 welded nuts instead of a nut and bolt I had. But that could be used the same way, just have to screw a bolt in first so you have something to hold on to until you can tighten it in place. Anyway, searching for “Nut and retainer” should get you in the ballpark for something that will work. Hope that helps.

In my search, one for a jeep is the most similar except it is 2 welded nuts instead of a nut and bolt I had.
