I hope you do make a video on your equipment. I have no idea what to get. Give me a heads up. I'm a beginner at 175lb I'm 48 years old and I don't want to do any crazy tricks. Just a good solid motor and wing. Quiet would be nice. I'm kinda wanting a quad not sure yet. Thanks so much for your videos your a great teacher and no way will I try this without professional training.

Thank you! PS: There is no way in hell I would ever pick up this hobby! I don’t like heights even though I have several pilots in our family. My grandpa always used to take us for rides in his Piper Cub and Fairchild. I grew up in Racine, WI. He flew me up to the EAA museum and brought me back to school once to UW Eau Claire.

As a former sailplane pilot, and basic level instructor, I completely agree. I've only discovered Tucker's channel and the field of paramotoring in the last couple of days (although of course I was aware of what I was calling powered hang-gliders). Don't let his young age fool you, Tucker is a top-notch pilot and teacher. I'm knocking on in years now but I'm really wondering whether I need to find a paramotor course.

A,B,C are group of lines connecting the wing to the risers. The risers are the straps connecting the lines to the carabiners. The A lines are connected to the front of the wing. The B lines are connected to middle of the wing, the c lines are connected to the middle back. And the brake lines at the trailing edge. Trimming is adjusting the lenght of the risers, so the back of the risers are longer or shorter than the front. It changes the angle of attack, the angle between the wing and the airflow, changing the speed of the wing, and other flight behavior.

This "Basic Training" was another awesome video of yours. So, this coming summer, a friend and I are planning on taking a paramotor flight course. It is a week long, 8 hours each day and includes flights using their equipment. Part of the reason I think it's good to see these "basic training" videos, is it will help during the course because I will know what to ask when it comes time. I've always had a drive to fly, but it is very expensive to do so. Your videos made me totally want to pick this sport. I love that even watching other people's videos, they will mention you and always with total respect.

Next thing: You may only start from airports (yet you may land anywhere you like strangely) and like half of the country is no-fly area, especially around Cities and/or inhabited area in general. ok, so I've always loved flying. Used to cut class in high school to go flying. Been working for AmericanAirlines for 33 yrs and just checked out one of your videos and thought 'how does he control the throttle'....so, THANKS so much for putting this video up. Perfect. You BETTER be having a blast tooling around.

When Tucker said "don't go try it at home because it won't work like that" he's very right, please dont. I liked this video a lot though, you're a good teacher ;). Just a thought i think weight shift effectiveness has a lot to do with the gear you're flying and also your weight. For example on the air conceptions with the Mojo if I just lift one leg and move my upper body it really doesn't do much. To make any type of noticable turn with weight shift on that setup I really have to slide my whole body to one side of the harness and cross a leg, while in the scout it doesn't seem like there's even room to do that.

Judson Graham I have the disadvantage of having a wide upper torso. I only have about an inch total between me and the weight shift arms. Plus the 26m spyder isn't the most agile wing. I can weight shift and it definitely has an effect, but it takes me trying to shift my hardest to the left to keep the air conception going straight at full throttle. Need to get me some anti torque lamels.
@JudsonGraham
@JudsonGraham 6 жыл бұрын
Robert Durbin we were thinking of getting them for the ac-130! Because jaclyn and I are so light, the torque is kind of an issue

I appreciate your effort, but I was lost almost immediately. You talked about tips and something else and A,B, and C, which I think must be different parts of your wing. It would have helped if I could have asked questions, and before we even started flying, it would have been good to study a diagram with all the different parts relevant to controlling the paramotor. I think you kind of take the vocabulary and how the parts work for granted. The 4 or so interruptions for ads also didn't help. Reading through the comments, it's obvious some people got a lot more from this than I did, and that's good. Perhaps if I studied up some and then re-watched the video, I'd get more out of it, too. So again, thanks for the effort.

Tucker, thanks for making these vids, I have already learned a lot. I would love to do it but here in Seattle I do not see much going on, possibly up north in the Skagit Valley. I will be seeking out local professional training first and see where it takes me. Thanks again for taking the time to do these videos, it means a lot to us who are just learning about this great sport. This might be a very good time to get into it, since it is now a mature sport with many of the inherent dangers worked out.

I am 65, post motorcycle accident via a dog strike, 5 surgeries to my right leg and do good to walk. Love watching your videos and flying with you via KZfaq. Was wondering how they worked, enjoyed your explanation so much. I used to be a pilot and loved to fly and often had flying dreams as if I were flying without a plane, loved those dreams-every once in awhile I still have one. Darn if your flinging videos are not so much like my dreams. If I were younger and had good legs I would have to do that-but flying with you on KZfaq is the next best thing. I enjoy your character as well, you are so thoughtful, considerate and kind-I suspect you have really good parents.😎🤟🇺🇸

Hey Tucker. Thanks for the tutorial. I am older guy that's probably going through a mid life crisis, lol.... only kidding. I have been binging on your videos and I am extremely interested in paramotoring. Since I started watching I've been wondering what "trimming out" meant, now I finally know. This was a great overview of the basics. I finally subscribed after all the binging and hope to get involved in the sport. I appreciate the fact that you are very genuine and seem to be very mature for your age. You are a great ambassador for the sport. I live in the southwest and can probably fly all year round, we do have schools out here that I am going to check out. Keep doing what you're doing, you're very much appreciated and you have increased interest in this amazing sport. Thanks again, be safe and stay healthy.
