We pulled off the Project 150 to put in a few foundations. We'll be back to that job shortly.
This video is the first of a few that document the foundation process for 2 homes. These are both daylight or walk out basements. After determining grade, the excavating contractor digs down and blows out the site level. As you'll see as we go, this job will have 10' poured concrete walls across the front and then step down to 2' walls in the back.
In part 3 we are installing the footing liner. This allows us to use smaller footing boards, which saves money and time. It also allows us to use our footing boards up as we frame the house.

Please remember that I'm not showing the best way to form footings, but just the method that works well for us. Thanks for watching!
Oh and another takeaway, if you use a drone for commercial work, you need to be part107 certified. Commercial work includes social media like KZfaq if you plan to make an income off of that. I watched a video about this last May and then purchased the Part 107 Course sso.teachable.com/secure/2458... I studied and learned for 1 month and then took my test. I scored a 95%, which is a testament to how good Greg and the crew over there teach. That link will save you $100 off the course and support this channel.

This series is special! Shows great rapport with employees and work can and should be fun and safe at the same time. Your animated nature is great, it is a positive reflection on your candor and knowledge. All of that comes through in the High level of framing carpentry and attention to details. Always love how you do what the Arch, PE and Manufacture Instructions require. ABSOLUTELY No short cuts. { I can see lots of folks not stapling the exterior and finding themselves in a world of hurt when the concrete pour exerts forces on the bag == Spill out until the cows come home. } First time I have seen the #FASTFORM, I am a convert.

Fastfoot has been around for years... I remember back in 2004 when I was doing the foundations for my shop, I wanted the guys to use Fastfoot, but since they never had, they didn't. And don't forget about their columns - Fast-tube.

@dinamadson5264
@dinamadson5264 2 жыл бұрын
@@abc-ed1nr oh yes. everything above footer is as you know it. only thing different is the forming material around the footing - plastic or lumber that you have to pull off, clean up, etc. I was working in fairly narrow trenches - unlike their wide open worksite above, and not having to muscle lumber down and in for forms (2x6 vs 2x larger) was a definite benefit.

I read about these in fine homebuilding magazine years ago and thought that was the sloppiest footing I’ve ever seen because of how it balloons out underneath the form boards. As years have passed I’ve liked the idea of them more and more if I was doing that. We pour our footers in the dirt here in East Tennessee so we rarely have to do much form work on footers.

I've seen people use FastFoot with lighter lumber than that. All the boards really need to do is hold the bag up to establish the surface height.

My only issue with Form-a-drain is that your footings have to be level, so how does a level drain work effectively?

One small comment on the corners, lay one side over and one side under so you can place concrete in one direction without it pushing the bag up. Makes for a smoother pour. Q; what are the orange hangers you use for the rebar verts?

How much do you mess with the staples later on? Bang em flat? Stripping the forms with that many staples in is harder. I usually use lumber wrap. The staples make the stripping a little harder for me.

Question have you used plasticizer in your concrete mix to make flow instead of adding more water? The hammer I like to use the bottom opens an you just drop the staples in. I have use the ones where you load from the staples from the back sometimes the pusher spring pops out than you have find it and if it jams it is hard to clear the jam.

I’m a little confused, do the footings later get backfilled in and around? We always dig footings below grade around here. Maybe I should finish watching the video first 🤪.
@sethbrandenburg941
@sethbrandenburg941 2 жыл бұрын
It's pretty obvious that these footings are below grade, bud. The excavator is going to come back after either the footings are poured and stripped or after the foundation walls are up and install drainage tile and gravel. And then it's getting back filled to a rough grade. Then this crew comes back to frame the house

I've noticed the method you're talking about a lot on KZfaq seems really popular in places where you don't have to dig. Very deep. Up north where I'm at. We're at 42 in so the extra 12 inches that you're digging down and back filling around the footing is really nothing so we do forms instead of trenches. Looks like it's easier from what I've seen on KZfaq.
