Great video. I haven't seen a basement job in about 35 years. No basements here in Hawaii, one hurricane and it would become a pool or water tank. Lol The last concrete job I was on was a 5 floor parking structure, that was a project. I think it used 2 million cubic feet of concrete in the foundation mono-floor, columns, deck floors, walls, buttresses, structure beams, bridge supports, skyway, and staircase structures. The columns and beams used a multi- layer 3, 4, 5, 7 rebar combination with all post tension cable floor suspension systems with 60,000 psi pulls and triple locking cones. The concrete was a dry slump 15,000 psi something or other specialty mix that had to have 12 core samples per truck batch to monitor consistency throughout the entire project for seismic/ unstable ground requirements. Nothing complicated, just a footing that took 2 and a half years to complete and you could not remove the forms from a section until the cores were cured 28 days then tested 14 days later and finally certified. Of course each section took about 2 week longer than certification, so once the first sections were certified things moved right along, except one section that had cable failure and had to be redone. I learned a lot on that job, wow.

Been watching your channel for a while I'm an old 76 year old farmer - - drainage contractor - Township Trustee- workaholic I'm laid up right now can't do much but I love watching your Channel yes I have poured my share of concrete and it's typically work especially if you don't have enough help I put in millions of feet Farm drainage custom work and on my own Farms behind a trencher first and now we do most of it with a drainage plow but ten years ago I bought my first mini excavator and I love it to death I didn't buy one until I should have been retired but I would take that over a boat or a set of golf clubs any day I use it all the time and help the neighbors out with it I got a big brush cutter that I put on it and I can cut off about 4 inch rims in a couple seconds I should be completely retired but I just wish I had more work for my mini excavator cuz that is my plaything I wish I was young enough to be back in the heat of bad one like you but I didn't realize that back then take care

Nice job and HEY, this RADON stuff is serious. Where I live, don't think about selling your house without having a RADON test done FIRST. THEN any adjustments must be made and tested again. Often time it results in drilling a hole in the concrete floor to expel the gas. Fine but if you're sitting on a high water table, that hole now receives water. Quite the mess and I think hats off to you for bringing it up. Good job cuz it's serious stuff! Good job crew! Sonny (CT)

Interesting to see how things are so different in different parts of the country. Down here you'd spend a couple days clearing and building up a pad for the foundation to set on, build your forms out and then wait three years for the county to show up to do an inspection before you could pour the foundation.

I wouldn't trowel a footing (footer as you call it) 'baby bum smooth'. If you just give it a rough hand float to make it level for the forms, when you pour the wall the base of the wall gets a bit more grip on the footing making it even less likely to move. Being able to smile and joke after the pour is done is a very good day in concrete.

Take you any day as a basement/crawlspace contractor take a drain to daylight! I know or hope the form a drain isn't tied to the sump or floor drain of/for the basement and it goes to daylight as well. My contractor said no sump just a P trap drain said yes I will take responsibility for any issues and a sump just another place for the boys to pee in we won't go into that discussion. Back filled system entirely with pea stone 2 outer perimeter tile ,1 inner ,basement floor P drain and 2 floor garage drains all schedule 35 to daylight with rat traps on the ends since Nov 98 no issues ever with water to date none expected. Good work guys shows you care about you workmanship !

Food for thought. Years ago we furnish concrete for a couple bothers. When they pure the footing they would turn a 2 x 4 on it edge and put a V in the center of the footing that where they stuck the vertical Re bar in the center of the V. I ask what this was for? He said that this help block water from entering into the house basement floor. Just thought you would be interesting in some old ways of doing footing and walls..

Radon is a radioactive gas that occurs during the decomposition of natural uranium or thorium in the ground. Not a big deal outside - but inside is a different story. Interesting story is that a mine worker discovered his house had radon when he kept setting off the geiger counter at work and ended up bringing one home.

Good of you to keep all of the ner do wells in the county gainfully employed. That gravel under the footer would be a big no up here. Along with a day lighted drain. You can build a house on top of a ridge here and they still require a sump and pump. Why? I do not know. I do like that form a drain stuff but shouldn't the slots be on the bottom of it? Just my thought. Good video thank you. Merry Christmas and best regards from Boone county.
