This video will show you how to frame shed walls for a lean-to modern shed, step-by-step!
There are many different ways to frame shed walls. I built my shed walls using and 2"x4" pressure treated lumber and 2"x6" pressure treated lumber for the front shed wall headers.
When framing your shed walls, you want to plan our your wall stud layout based on the siding you are going to be using for your shed. In my case, I used 4'x8' LP SmartSiding panels for siding. Therefore, I placed my studs so that they would be positioned where the two edges of siding panels meet. The video will go through every aspect of the shed wall framing process.

What a great job. The Thron Brothers rule! I didn't realize how heavy the front wall frame could be until I went and lifted one smaller 2 x 4! I can't wait for the roof segment. Thank you.

Did you need a permit.?
@danoc1432
@danoc1432 Жыл бұрын
I live out in the country, so I can pretty much do what I want, as far as building in my property. I wouldn't think a shed this size would need one in a typical suburban neighborhood. If you add electric, I would definitely look into it.

Hey Patrick - thanks for watching! I did not trim my fascia boards (personal preference) but you totally can. Just use the same angle as the pitch of your roof.

Did you have issues with permitting or codes? I believe in my area you have to get your structure permitted if it’s on a slab like yours. Did you have any professional help when designing the framing? Looks great hope to try something similar myself some day.

You actually can put too many nails in a piece of wood. Wood relies on the connection between the fibers for its strength. Every time you poke a nail or screw in you weaken it. That's not to say to go too few. General rule of thumb is every 12 inches. A bit short is okay, just be careful. Also not saying you have to measure unless You're unsure what 12 inches looks like.

These videos are great BUT… You only mention the support 2x4 to prevent the front wall from tipping if you do this alone. That is the only safety tip you share - I find it very irresponsible to work in crocs. You should be wearing safety boots, should one of those Walls fall onto your feet it would crush The bones to dust.
@AndrewThronImprovements
@AndrewThronImprovements Жыл бұрын
Hi Jessica! You are totally right. Crocs are definitely not the safest construction shoe on the market - that’s for sure. Steel toe boots are definitely the better bet. Thanks for watching!

Cool. But as a framer/carpenter I must say its a waste of material when you frame corners like you did. Should, instead, use the California method. You can still sheet the walls with no problem, but use less material. God bless

I totally hear ya! I’ll consider that method next time I have a wall corner I’m working on. I’m sure there are a bunch of ways that you could “value engineer” my construction methods. The 10” rafter spacing is probably another lol. Thanks for watching!
