Here you have a simple way how to get a fry noise and fry scream in 3 easy steps!
1. "A sound of refreshment",
2. Projecting the compressed airflow and finding a delicate grit,
3. Making the fry noise/ fry scream by delicately "pushing" the air through your connected vocal folds (while avoiding unnecessary pressure and constrictions)!
*****
Do you want to learn how to Scream, Growl or sing with Distortion from scratch without destroying your voice and wasting time (and nerves) for an ineffective practice?
Or maybe you are already able to scream but you look for ways of taking your vocals to the next level, for example by learning new "tricks" and getting rid of unhealthy habits?
If the answer to any of those questions is "Yes", than check out the Ultimate Extreme Vocals Course - a step-by-step guide that will lead you through the world of extreme vocal techniques like Fry Scream, False Chord, Distortion, Gutturals, and more!
Beside the extreme vocals, you will also build a solid and healthy technical foundation so your voice would grow safe and faster - effective breathing technique and posture, dynamic breath support and properly set voice (opened throat, lack of unnecessary constrictions, good resonance).
There are also other helpful tools like exercises for finding and developing your vocal range - over 8 hours of materials with a lifetime access (no subscription bullsh*t)!
Sounds good enough?
Get the Complete Guide To Extreme Vocals, save $15 and make your screaming tear off the roofs of buildings before the promotion ends!

I am happy the video was helpful! I would love to talk more about Chuck's vocals, especially from two last albums of Death but currently I have so much work with the new course and recording (2 albums, one ep and 2 songs wait for me to be recorded) that I can't work on covers or analysis of vocal styles of vocalists too much. I have few covers recorded in the previous year and I will gradually upload them but I see that people don't watch my covers so I focus on tutorials instead :D

I've been looking at videos that does this exact same thing, but from what I've heard and seen, they only show how to forcefully punch into the distorsion and when I try that, I clamp up and almost choke myself. But how you described how to relax and gently go into the fry, it just clicked for me and I got it right away! Been doing vocals for about 10 months now (focusing on false chords), but this is a new way for me to dip my toes into a better fry scream. Thank you so much and keep on rocking with these tutorials! You're great :)

I've watched (probably) the same videos and had the same problems :D That's why I "upgraded" this method and it started to work really well for my students, especially during group vocal workshops where some people could learn a basic fry scream in a matter of 30 minutes of practice. I am happy that it worked for you and thank you for the comment and kind words - it means A LOT! PS The next step after this method is something that I called the "vomit fry" - it's also very effective, maybe it will be something useful for you :) kzfaq.info/get/bejne/erCIiqplmd-sj58.html

Awesome, I am happy you found it useful! The only risk of imitating sounds of other people is that the imitation of the sound itself doesn't mean that you use the same mechanics. For example I've learnt fry scream in a matter of week by imitating the sounds from Zen Of Screaming but I wasn't using the support and compression properly so my throat was getting devastated after 15 minutes of screaming. I thought it will improve with every week, month, etc. It didn't so I decided to re-learn from basics again. It took me at least 2 years.

My man, I thank you for mentioning overtone singing. Funny shit, I can do both khoomei and kargyraa fairly easily, but I've been sitting here destroying my throat for 4 hours, trying to undestand what I'm doing wrong, whilst already having all the instruments at my disposal. Once I stopped trying to fry scream like someone unfamiliar with throat singing, and use the diaphragm and false chords properly, everything was put in its place. Thank you so much brother

Hey man! How can I make sure that my throat is open while doing falsechord screams? I think I found my falsechords and I'm pretty sure about I'm using my diaphragm, but it sounds like there's vocal fry going on. And it also starts to hurt after a pretty short time, once it just felt uncomfortable, I kept doing it, than I barely could talk the next day lol. Btw I tried to imitate Rogga from Merciless. (The song Pure Hate partuculally)

Hi! The classical opened throat feels like you have more space inside of your throat and mouth - larynx is lowered (or even dropped) and the soft palate is lifted, and the tip of your tongue lies behind your lower teeth. It's good for lower and darker vocals like growls and gutturals but the opened throat is simply a state when sounds you produce flow completely from any kind of discomfort and they don't meet any obstacle like tension or too high pressure on their way. If you have an impression like the vocal fry is in the background of your vocals and you don't want it to be there, then it can mean that you connect and tighten your true vocal folds way too much. It can get really uncomfortable and exhausting for the voice. If something hurts, then it's good to not force it but to listen to a recording, if you have a one, and try to figure out what requires fixing instead of forcing uncomfortable technique. If you have any recording, feel free to send me it, I will gladly listen and share my observations!

Work on proper breathing support for vocals in general. That in and of itself won't get you to the full on "fry scream" but neither will doing everything else correctly, but doing so WITHOUT learning how to breath properly and use your diaphragm to it's full capacity. I think people often forget that in trying to be a metal vocalist either as a hobby or as a career, you are a VOCALIST, not just a screamer. So going from never singing to being a fry screamer is not going to happen in a matter of weeks. Not saying that is you, just saying people underestimate the amount of time and dedication some of these vocal styles take to get right.
@sibilaextremevocal
@sibilaextremevocal 2 жыл бұрын
You are right Brandon! Many people just try to jump into desired screaming technique in a matter of weeks/ months but they don't see that the "vocal picture" is much bigger than just screaming. I remember few people who managed to learn fry scream during a single lesson and in 90% of cases they were really good at singing, no matter if they were singing teachers, self-taught singers or they studied singing, their experience (good understanding of the resonance, support, airflow and avoiding unnecessary tension and pressure) opened for them a path of mastering extreme vocal techniques much faster than in cases of the most of people without such an experience.
@sibilaextremevocal
@sibilaextremevocal 2 жыл бұрын
I think that learning more about the voice emission - controlling the volume, the breath support and using resonance can really help you to unlock your full fry scream! Fry noise is also something not that obvious, some people need few months to learn it so good job anyway. Fry noise is kind of between the vocal fry and fry scream so you are almost there.

Did you try other methods? Maybe this one doesn't suit your voice. When I practice with my students, sometimes we need to check 4 or rarerly even more different ways before we discover something that works well. There's a whole playlist dedictated to the fry scream, feel free to check it out and let me know if you found something helpful :)

@sibilaextremevocal
@sibilaextremevocal Жыл бұрын
Hello, usually it's a sign that something is missing in your technique, for example: 1. The source of distortion is not precise enough, 2. You push too hard from your throat or chest (too much air or too high air pressure), 3. The breath support needs improvement. 4. Maybe your voice needs a better singing warm up. 5. There are constrictions in your jaw, root of the tongue or epiglottis etc. and they cause the discomfort If any of the things above relate to your situation, check out the materials about breath support, warm up and growl on this channel. They should help to solve the issues.
