I love this channel and the authentic vibes from the both of you guys. Growing up in a Jamaican family, everyone always kept the secrets under lock. Me and my husband are Jamaicans and I plan to learn all I can to share the goodness with Our children wnd pass the torch to them to continue the love, and beauty of cooking. My mom is American and my father's side is Jamaican. I grew up only getting Jamaican eats during the holidays, where as my mom would cook American. Now that I have my own family. This is a huge STAPLE of what I vow to include in our home. It's our culture. It's our people and it's US 🙏🏽🤍🇯🇲

I realise that most people will think that frying plantain doesn’t really warrant an instructional video, but my in-laws live in Jamaica and every time I have fried plantain, everyone has their own ways of preparing it. I am English and am very grateful that you have taken the time to demonstrate how you cook this delicious snack. Watching your video, I see that the oil must not be too hot, but there must be enough of it in the pan. Also, as you say, you should turn the plantain so that each side is fried twice.

Properly ripened plantains are perfectly edible raw, they're just a bit starchier and less sweet than table bananas. But frying them enhances their sweetness, especially if you let them carmalize a bit. They can also be boiled or added to soups

I saw a recipe for frying bananas very similar to frying plantins in butter. I first used plantins in the early 70s when I cooked a Puerto Rican dish called pasteles (very hard dish to make) during that time they now have grinders to grind the platains.I made this dish for my fiance from Santuce PR. I'm African American and German 🇩🇪 it was delicious and I realized PR cooking and other Caribbean dishes is like cooking soul food but then I realized many food stables and recipes came from the continent of Africa during the Trans Atlantic Slave Trade😔

These will be a great addition to my vegan diet!! THANK YOU ♥️ Speaking of which I seen Jamaican food truck & owner while getting gas and we waved Hello to each other so I went over to ask if he Might have anything vegan and he chuckled but we still made small talk bc he was so nice…. Even nicer… He said Hold On A Minute and came back with rice & beans, some tasty veggies I’ve never had & plantains 🤤 I was so appreciative and it was so freakin DELISH!! And so CONSIDERATE!! It’s what brought me here to learn… I really appreciate you sharing your skills and culture… THANK YOU 🙏♥️

I LOVE fried Plantains!! I'm the only one in my house that enjoys them, tho. However, the good thing is that my leftovers are ALWAYS in the frig when i want them. 😄. Those look SO tasty! BTW, I prefer soft plantains. 🤗

Thank you for making and posting this video! Over 10 years later and I’m so glad I came across this. Plantains are a new food so me that I’ve been curious about for awhile. ❤

Fried sweet Plantain with refried beans and sour cream. So many different flavors and sensations all at once. First tried it at an El Salvadorian restaurant, loved it.

Plantains are literally a staple in the world. I had it for the first time at a Cuban restaurant. Best decision ever.🥰

Thank you!!!!! We've never tasted plantain before, but I received 4 of them 2 weeks ago in our produce co-op order. I put a search on yt and your video popped up. I fried 2 this morning, now that the skins are all black I almost got lazy and tossed em and im glad I didnt! I sprinkled some cinnamon on some of them, and left the others plain and they're good either way. They came out soft with a little crispness on the edges, love em! And they are lower glycemic response than a regular banana, even fully ripened so that's another plus!!!
